Gainey seems to like the fact of having 2 goalies competing for the #1 spot. Says it makes the goalies play their best because they know that if they dont, they wont play. BUT i disagree with the theory, because 1 goalie will be on the bench pissed off because he KNOWS he shouldnt be a back-up. PERSONALLY, Id try my best to trade Aebischer somewhere. Im positive there are teams out there looking for #1 material. And Danis SHOULD be coming up soon. I dont want him wasting away in the AHL. But then again, Gainey is the man in charge, and even though half of what he does doesnt make sense, i have to live with it either way. Until then, ill just whine here...

I'd think Ab. would be looking for a trade- would he be happy on the sidelines?Of course he may have the confidence to believe he'd be first choice in a very short time- Huet might be a 5 month wonder.

With our depth in goal and the interest among many teams in finding a #1 goaltender my guess is that Aebischer will be gone before July is over. I just don't see Gainey keeping two starting goaltenders when we have Danis and Price in the system. Gainey will probably make me eat my words on this but those are my feelings on the subject....

Gainey is posturing. He is telling teams that he doesn't really have to trade Aebischer so don't send any low-ball offers. If you want him, ante up!
