Should Savard/Gainey trade up for Johnson or Staal?

What would it cost the Habs to get the first pick and would it be worth it?

I wouldn't bother trading up since this is a VERY week draft year, next year is supposed to be a great year. Stall was unimpressive during the memorial Cup. Johnson was unimpressive in the one game i saw him play he through a dirty hit and was kicked out in the third period. Kessel collapsed. Brassard is 165 pounds at 6'0. Save the trade down for next year.

The habs pick 16th this year...a bit of history. The last time they picked 16th, they passed over Simon Gagne for his linemate in Junior, a guy by the name of Eric Chouinard. Here's hoping that they make a better decision this year.

As we all know , the draft can be a crap shoot........

Gagne's #'s in 96/97 were 9 goals and 22 assists..........Choiunard --did not play in the league

Gagne in 97/98  were 30 goals/30 assists....................Choiunard's- 41 goals/42 assists

Gagne in 98/99 were 61 goals/50 assists.....................Chouinard- 50 goals/59 assists

Gagne in 99/00  did not play in Q...............................Chouinard- 57 goals/47 assists

I remember Wickenheiser as I am sure everyone else does. Lets hope that the Scouting staff has done a bangem-up job for Gainey.

Chouinards stats in the Verdun Gentleman's Hockey League last year- 72 Goals and 50 Assists

No actually your point is well taken regarding the draft being a crap shoot to an extent. It just seems that in the past the habs have been rolling the dice more than alot of other teams. Having said that, I think we have the right people in charge now to make more informed gambles.
