It appears that Julien will go to Vancouver to be assistant coach with Alain Vigneault. Currently CJ is being courted by the Moncton Wildcats to replace Ted Nolan as head coach and GM, however his preferance is to remain in the NHL even as an assistant. Will be kinda ironic. 2 Habs castoffs coaching in Vancouver.

It will be great to see Claude - and Alain Vigneault, who I always liked - back in the NHL!

If CJ thought there was some dis harmony in the Habs dressing room, just wait until he experiences the Canucks disfunctional lockerroom. Bertuzzi,Naslund and all the rest! Good luck to him, though, he deserves to be behind the bench in the NHL, and hopefully his opportunity in Vancouver will be a spring board to being a head coach in the league again.

I think it was a competition - If you win you get to be:

FIRST PRIZE - Assistant coach of the Canucks
Second Prize - Coach of the Canucks
Third Prize - A Canuck

I'm looking forward to your reply on this one, Barry!

I do not in any way question your friendship with Claude, but do wonder how you could have been misled on this one - and be so confident about it to spill the beans to us all (incorrectly, as it turned out).

I was a little curious at first too..but im sure its something along the lines of Vancouver he only had a assistant coach job...New Jersey HE is the man in charge and more pay at that. The new jersey offer probably was last minute and changes were made.

Nilsey- there were two last minute changes made to the Jersey offer that I am not privy to say that changed his mind. I will say that one of the stumbling blocks that was removed had to do with Claude being able to choose his own assistants. He may start the season with the existing assistants but I know he wants the flexibility to make additions/changes as he sees fit. That is very important to him. All I can tell you is that the jersey job was his first choice all along, but at the same time teh situation had to be right. The Vancouver job was very close to being a done deal. I know I go out on the limb here at times but I am only relaying what I know and in this sport, things sometimes change day to day.

exactly, in the sports industry, rumors and even cold hard facts change from day to day. Which is one of the reasons why i stopped posting trade rumors, cause they were not happening and people started to question me. I for one believe in Barry and do not see why he would make up a story.
