I have to admit, I admire their skill level and depth. A very good team. Both teams did good jobs with key acquisitions before the season and during it before trade deadlines.

The Oilers also have young forwards that are maturing into great players. They'll get another shot at it also.

In this new league... speed, skill and goaltending are very important.

I hope Gainey notes this as well.

They are hated because of their attitude. I am not disuputing they are a good team. Rutherford has taken Bob Gainey to school on how to build a team and draft. The aquisitions that many on this board laughed at (Rechi, Weight) are proving their "weight" in gold. Stahl is proving to be the dominant power forward in the league (Montreal's power forward is?!???!??). Having said that, Iwill list the reasons they are dispised:

Laviolette is the biggest whiner in the league. He constantly whines about officiating or about opposition coaches. The "us vs the rest of the world" mentality wears very thin, very fast

Justin Williams- the guy is about as remorseful after hurting someone as Bill Clinton was after dinging Monica LeBlimpski. He carries his stick around like it is a machete in a hayfield. It is obvious that he feels that hurting someone is just part of the price that needs to be paid to win a cup and I am not convinced that many of his teamates do not feel the same way.

The fans- sorry. But the rednecks in Carolina know about as much about hockey as I do about brain surgery. The fact that they cannot even sell out a game seven points to the apethy. Half naked cheerleaders (not that I am complaining) only further illustrates the ignorance of the fans and the need to try something other than hockey to put bums in the seats

The team has been nauseatingly lucky. Koivu loses an eye courtesy of Justin the Butcher. Buffalo loses their top 4 dman. Edmonton loses their Conn Smythe candidate goalie. I have written the Canes management and asked all the players to pick me 6 numbers for this weekend's 649 draw. Yes, to an extent, you make your own luck. But cmon ..these guys should be in Vegas

The whole team attitude is easy to hate. An example was the idiot sitting on the bench applauding after Pronger scored on the penalty shot. He shoudl have been applauding his stupid teamate for putting his hand on the puck in the crease. It was the RIGHT call. Check the rule book out moron..if you can read

Cam Ward- will need his bonus to fix the plumbing in his house. Rumour has it that the pipes from his bathroom are clogged with horsehoes

I could go on and on. Personally I do not care who wins. But I like a team that shows some class in the process. Carolina has none.

Amen to that one Barry. I agree with your all 5 of your points. Although i would add Rod Brindamour and Matt Cullen as being huge whining crybabies to point one.

Rod Brindamour is the 2nd ugliest man in hockey. His face makes you wanna punch it hard. Only guy worse is Mike Ricci. However I respect Ricci because he is not a little whining puke like Brindamour.

7. Carolina has been running goalies in every series. See complaints filed by Huet, Brodeur, and Lindy Ruff to that affect. Also, see the injury to Rollie, and the elbow to the head of Markannen in game 2.
