Our former pincushion came up big...

reminds me of when my nasty ex first caught a glimpse of my new wife..

(only minimal gloating on my part, I promise)

If Gerber keeps it up so does his stock as a UFA this summer as I am sure his
value went down during The Habs series......he susposely lost 12 lbs due to a
stomach virus - Habs Flu......

I was glad to see the comeback.  I felt sorry for the guy.  He had that nasty virus, was shelled by the Habs in the first game and a bit, and his whole year seemingly went down the tubes.

I'm not a fan of the 'Canes, but his personal story is a good one.

Think of the parallel with Aebischer. Guy gets traded, looks bad in first few games, and never really settled in. But what does it prove? Goalies are so often hot and cold. Even Brodeur. Even St. Patrick.

It might be worth keeping both goalies next year. Price will not be ready, and Danis has to regain his confidence. Having two goalies with starting experience could be our wild card in the playoffs next year. I really hope Gainey goes this route, because neither Huet nor Aebischer are 100% proven workhorses, but both have proven they have the talent to steal games when they are on.

In an ideal world, sure, I'd love to keep Aebischer. But who says Aebi wants to stay? Yes, he did say he wants to remain in Montreal, but as the number 1. He's far too good to be a backup. There are lots of teams looking for a decent starting goalie, such as Tampa, so I would trade him for a strong forward or a good defenceman. Danis has proven he's good enough to be a dependable backup.

You're totally right Jedah, but you never know.
Players can be talked into seeing what's happening in Carolina. You never know. Surely Aebischer must know that he hasn't proved himself yet as an NHL starter.
