Brad Richards just signed a long-term contract with TB... 5 years, 39 million. How can they afford Richards, St-Louis, and Lecavalier? I think St-Louis will be the odd man out next season
A small, inconsistent, francophone forward? Made for the Habs!

...and And-o thought that Saku's contract was waayyyyyyyyy too rich! Anyone else smell the old "sign and trade" scenario (a la Hossa for Heatley)???
I'm back...for a second...
See And-o. Koivu's contract is gonna look pretty sweet in the face of numerous 6.5mil+ contracts this off season. Trust me...the likes of Koivu is a steal for what he signed.

Uhmmm..as much as I like Saks, I think that the word "steal" is over doing it a bit here.

The lightning are on the hook for 19.75 million next year for three forwards.
If we assume the cap will be approx 43-46 million, that leaves them with 23.25-26.25 million for 20 more players.
Add in some decent though not extravagant contracts for guys already locked up like Boyle, Modin, Fedotenko, and all. As well as Pending UFA Pavel Kubina, and their obvious hole in the nets. I cannot see them being very good next year. Their depth forwards, defence, and goaltending will all be sub par. I see them losing a lot of 4-3 and 5-4 games.
Good post...does anyone know what the sum of all Hab salaries were at the end of the season?
If the cap will be at 43- 46 mill, I think we are in good shape to sign players, assuming that Gillett wants to spend his abundance of profit he made as Habs owner so far.
