This guy is an ass. I just saw his press conference and he will not accept an apology from the guy that hit him from behind. The Penguin said sorry and didnt want to hurt him. Eric should speak to Justin Williams as Justin did not intend to hurt Saku but Saku had the class to accept Justin's call and his apology.

i was going to post on this last night , i agree , he even went as far as to say he's waiting for the next time they play them, hes got payback on his mind , i said this at the time he was hurt , it was partially his fault he was hurt , he was lined up and turned his back at the last second , there was nothing orpiks could do .

His best season in the nHL, his team has Stanley Cup aspirations, the team is making it deep into the playofss...I wouldn't say he's an ass, I'd say he's just honest...for once a player is honest.

Do you really think a player actually forgives another for hurting him, even if he says it verbally to be politically correct? No way, it's always in the back of his mind.

I really like this guy and I doubt that Cole will "cheap-shot" Orpik....BTW, the guy broke his NECK, not a finger, a wrist, an arm etc. I think it's OK if he's a little bitter.

Hey Key Lime....... how about an EYE? Because i believe that was Andy's original point.  I personally have always hated Cole ever since he acted like an un-classy piece of trash towards Doug Gilmour when they screwed the Habs over on a cheap call 3 years ago.  I have no sympathy for Cole, and I hope he doesn't return to the ice for the rest of these playoffs.  He doesn't deserve it.

well i dont think he'll cheapshot him either but some hits from behind (like this 1 )cant be avoided , orpiks didnt cheapshot cole , he lined him up for a clean hit and at the last second cole turned to avoid it . case closed .

Actually, whether the hit was clean or not, that's an endless debatable issue...Sports always had gray areas when it comes to infractions/penalties.

I have mixed feelings about the situation. While i feel Cole has the right to be upset at Orpyk ( the guy DID break coles neck ) i do believe cole should at least let Orpyk talk to him and let him apologize. Cole is showing NO class and really, that is something this game needs less of. Players who's ego's are bigger than their pay-rolls. Sure, his neck was broken and it could have been a lot more serious. But when you go into the boards the way cole did...you do have to admit, you're asking to get hurt.

It isnt only cole who has been hit like that this year...but he happened to be one of the ones who actually gets hurt on the hit. MANY players have been fortunate enough to get right back up after the hit. But players have to be more aware of their position on the ice...and standing 2 feet out from the boards and looking down at the puck is not a safe thing to be doing. Players have been doing this all season...and if they dont stop, accidents like cole's injury are going to happen.

Its like Gordie Howe always used to say, "There was no hitting from behind in my day because a player knew if he was facing the boards he was going to get hurt."
