Out of the teams that are left (2nd round) who are you rooting for???
Buffalo / Ottawa - Edmonton / San Jose - Anaheim / Colorado - Carolina / New Jersey
I pick...
Ottawa (They are Canadian & I have a few of them in my pool)
Edmonton (Again, Canadian)
Colorado (I'll get flack for this but I'd like to see Theo {& the rest of the former Habs} do well)
& of course New Jersey (Not only do I have a few of NJ's guys in the pool {inc. Brodeur} I just can't stomach the thought of the Canes playing for the cup)
Lets go Buffalo!!! They remind me of Montreal. I love Afinogenov, he's the man. So underrated. As a matter of fact the whole team is underrated. I would like to see the Sabres and the Avs in the finals. Avs are on thin ice though. I am still a huge Theodore fan. I would love to see him win the cup. He deserves it. If it wasn't for him those couple of good years he had, the Canadiens would have never of made it to the playoffs. The thing about him is that he makes really good saves but gives up way too many weak goals. One argument that he has and i would back him up 100% is that playing for the Habs he did not have good defense. Defensively the Habs suck and we get outshot way to often. Theodore saw a lot of rubber with the Habs. So i give him credit for carrying us to two playoff births giving us a chance to win the cup, but you can only do so much and eventually the weight on his shoulders got to be too much. I still have a lot of respect for my man Theo
The Avs, Senators and the Devils haven't even shown up in the 2nd round and are finished. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they all roll over and get swept.
The reality is that the only team with a shot of advancing is Edmonton. Edmonton plays with so much emotion and desire - I wish the Habs played like that. Even Samsonov blocked a shot last night. They are as blue collar as it gets and they are not afraid to play a physical game. No wonder teams hate playing them and no wonder they get results. Hard work every night = wins. If you like hockey, you like the way the Oilers play.
We need a guy like Ryan Smyth on the Habs, who wears his heart on his sleeve and gives 110% every night. He's not afraid to crash the net, fight in the corners, kill penalties, play power play and even block shots. And he can score and set up his mates. The definition of a hockey player's player (another would be Brind'Amour).
We need a better balance between hard working players (i.e. Begin) and our skilled guys like Kovy, Higs, Pleks and Zhoggy. No more useless fairies like Rib's, Sundtrum and Bonk who keep slipping through the cracks. Lets get some workhorse defenseman with a mean streak (Staois, Smith, Pronger)...I think Komi is on the right track but we can use another. Ol' BG should take a page from the Oilers manifesto and toughen up this team.

We are fans of Ryan Smyth, he's got so much go in him... unreal! He must be loaded with energizer batteries (you know... he keeps going & going &... )
