Ovechkin or Crosby

From a few reports, Crosby tempered a lot of the whining down the stretch. He even came close to matching Ovechkin and he is 2 years younger. Center is also more important than winger, so I would go wtih Crosby, as well.

Well, this will fill you all with shock and awe, but I choose …………. Sid the Kid (gasp!).

For one thing, reports of him whining, diving and showboating are greatly exaggerated. I really don’t think he whines or yaps more than the average player; it’s just that they don’t all have such a glaring spotlight shining on them like he does, which serves to magnify every little thing a hundredfold.

He ended up behind by four points (106 to 102), which is a virtual tie, and is, in my opinion, a more complete player. Not quite as good a scorer (who is?), but a much better playmaker. As well, he is very tough and strong – legs like tree trunks - and hard to knock off the puck. He is also good at both ends - his +/- improved greatly in the last few weeks of the year.

Also - and this is huge - as mentioned earlier, he is two years younger than Ovechkin, and at 18 & 20, that is a huge difference.

For these reasons, he would be my pick.

(Oh, OK, he’s my pick because he’s from the Halifax area, but what the heck, I made an argument for him nonetheless………..)

Ovechkin - if you've noticed one theme to my threads - I prefer a sandpaper finish.

Are you referring to his pimply face? I don't know that I would say Ovechkin is tougher than Crosby (if that's what you mean); what makes you say that?

Crosby, better all around player. Better leadership...... I see Crosby as a winner, a stanley cup winner......The kid has balls too lol.

Ovechkin lays out some big hits - tougher, no - more aggressive, yes.

Upon further thinking - I'd need to see if Ovechkin has staying power - Crosby is definitely going to improve every year for a decade +.
