…it appears that drafting one is the only viable/realistic solution!

Having said that, there are at least two options in the upcoming draft!

First, Jordan Staal (brother of Eric…talk about good genetics) plays for the Peterborough Petes and is ranked as the 2nd or 3rd best NA prospect amongst skaters.  Basically, Jordan will likely be selected somewhere between 3rd and 8th overall…so, Gainey would likely need to give up his top pick and something else quite substantial in order to have a reasonable chance of landing him!  (And-o thinks Jordan’s stock is rising so fast that he will be taken in the top 3)

Second, and most likely…there is Peter Mueller who is a mountainous 6 foot 5 inch right-handed pant load of prospect who skates well and is not afraid of his own shadow!!!  In fact, Mueller is presently ranked 8th amongst NA skaters…so, maybe he would still be available between the 12th and 20th pick overall – but this guy is also a real rising star in And-o’s opinion!!!

Finally…let And-o make this perfectly clear for the record…no more off the board “Price” picks will be tolerated!!!  The needs of this team are crystal clear to anyone who knows anything about hockey.  And-o has waited long enough…and he won’t wait one day longer than the upcoming draft day!!!

The draft option will not happen And-o. The habs need to find a guy who can be an immediate impact. Guys like Koivu and Kovalev are not getting any younger. They can't wait.

I don't know why...but my gut tells me Lecavlier or Richards( I hope Vinny as that Richards guy just does not measure up...he is a smallish guy with not great speed).

Now I have to go...Nil'd is coming over to replace my muffler...

I like the possibility of a package including Aebischer and a couple other players to Tampa for Lecavlier (isn't Richards a RFA anyway?).  Aebby could very well be the best goalie Tampa will be offered and would make room for Dannis & Huet to split (60/40 or 70/30 Huet) the goaltending in Montreal.

Aebischer will not be happy being second fiddle again, he could be a starter in Tampa.

why do you feel we cant sign or trade for this mythical beast you so desperately want (me also lol)i think arnott would do for now , he can give us 2-3 years till we can develope 1 , of course we could also trade for 1 , we have a surplus of smallish forwards and a 1a goalie we could package to get some help . plecks , kost, perez , zeds and aebs , if you were to package 2-3 of those players i bet you could get something decent in return . i didnt bother mentioning the players on our team that should be gone but noone would want , ribs , bonk .

Hey Mulsey...And-o gets that exact same gut feeling every week when he's at the corner store handing over $2 for his Super 7 ticket!!!

P.S.  Hey Nil'd...when And-o hit a redlight today...he noticed the car seemed to shudder and cough a touch...do you think And-o should run a tank or two of premium fuel???  (that's y'er own damn fault for putting that image into And-o's minds-eye!!!)

Your playin the wrong numbers. Here are your three guys I am certain one of which will end up in a habs jersey...Lecavlier, Richards, Arnott( I would have said Selanne but...he is playing to well for the ducks).

As for your car trouble and gas choice...I think the problem for And-o is excessive gas...

Well, you seem to sputter and cough a lot, so maybe the car got the  bug from you...........

Try STP.

Stop it!  Y'er killing And-o...although Jason Arnott is well past his best days!

And-o wouldn't discount the possibility of Scott Gomez becoming available because NJ will need to sign Elias...and they don't part ways with $$$ very well!!!

Also...Pavel Datsyuk could conceivably be headed out of motown for having a bad playoff appearance...and they need a goalie BIGTIME!

And...Vancouver might consider unloading Henrik Sedin, since they need a major overhaul!

...or maybe Minny would part ways with Brian Rolston...or...gulp...Saku's brother!!!???

One thing though...And-o is done waiting patiently!!!

Hey Johab, I know you didn't ask me, but I think there is only one choice.  Joe Thornton.  He's big, got good wheels, can hit, can shoot (although he doesn't score a ton), and can be totally dominant.

Do we really need these young upcoming stars? What i mean by that is if they sacrafice a 1st or second round draft for a jordan staal, if he is that good then the following year he'll be looking for (billions) of dollars  which ever team has to watch there cap,it doesn't leave much room for many other players, and one player does not win you a cup.Even his brother with the canes is not tearing up the playoffs,it's WARD thats keeping them in the playoffs, and that team is not scoring in bunches. I kind of like the mixture buffalo has,no big high payed players(i don't think) just ever-ready hockey bunnies.I don't think GAINEY would fall into that, buying high priced rookies--

First off, we need to draft a dman at this point.  Our farm system is very thin at D, but well stocked in Forwards and Goalies.

Secondly Brad Richards is a better player than Vinny Lecavalier.  I want Richards.  I know Lecavalier is the media's choice due to being the hometown kid, but i think BR is the better player.  He has outscored Vinny ever single season they have played together in Tampa.

Tampa cannot keep Lecav, Richards, and St. Louis.  18 million on three forwards will not get it done in todays NHL.  Not with the Cap situation.  They realize now that going all out upfront and cheap in the nets was the wrong move.  They have defenceman like Kubina and Sarich that are UFAs too.  With Richards pending RFA status i think he is available.

I would give a lot to get him too.  Aeby, Zednick, Ribs, and a 1st rounder in a 4 for 1 deal for Brad Richards.  I know its 4 for 1, but i think this guy is the game breaker we need to centre Kovalev's line.

Kostisyn- Richards - Kovalev

Higgins - Koivu - Ryder
