Back From... Rainy... Halifax

WHEEEEEEEWWWW.....What a week its been. I tell ya, after only 20 hours of sleep out of 5 days, Johab is one TIRED young man. It is IMPOSSIBLE to sleep on a bus ( coach bus ) and especially with my bad knee which cramps up if it is bent for too long. hahaha. But i had a great time no less. Halifax is a VERY nice city. The people are great and very friendly, scenery is very nice, and the food is REALLY good.

For those of you wondering, our band got Silver...which is sort of upsetting because we were not judged correctly. Most bands there have been playing since Grade 6. We have only been playing since grade 9 so there is a 3 year difference that should have been taken into account. But silver is fine :D Peggy's Cover was FREEZING and the Dinner Theater was absolutley hilarious.

Highlight of the trip though was definately getting to meet Nil d. It was awesome to finally meet someone from this board ( Nil d was the first for me...even though there are others ALOT closer haha ) And in the picture, Nil d was the smart one, he wore the right clothes for that day. I on the other hand JUST bought those clothes that day, and wanted to wear them out that night...even though it was raining. Ill handle the cold to look good :D haha It was unfortunate that we couldnt meet up with barry, but whos to say there wont be another time. After meeting with Nil d i DEFINATELY think that a big gohabs reunion somewhere, if planned well, would be awesome. Its not hard to kick it off with the people because we already know each other very well from the board

Lastly, id like to thank Nil d for wearing the habs stuff, it made it much easier to spot him being he came in along with 5 or 6 other people while i was standing there inbetween the doors wondering how i am going to recognize a guy ive only seen 1 picture of. I was extremely close to making a sign that said " Nil d " and standing outside like a Limo driver hahah. All in all GREAT trip, and im glad to be back to my favorite board. ( hope you all were good while i was gone...)

...now....HOW BOUT THOSE DUCKS???

Johab, I'm curious what pieces you guys were playing in your band. I know that my band at our last competition got a gold, but I don't know if we really deserved it because a lot of the people aren't too good. And to compare, some of us (like me) have been playing since grade 6, while others started in grade 9, so we have a good mix.

We played The Ayres Of Agincourt, Our Director ( March ) and A Child's Lullaby...i dont have the composers name but they are pretty good pieces.

I haven't heard those, but I may try to download them, as I'm generally pretty good at finding my own band's music online.

I was going to leave that piece of news for you to disclose.  Second out of 50-60 bands is pretty darn good, in my books!

The pleasure was all mine, my baritone-voiced young friend!  I'm just sorry I didn't have more time to show you around our beautiful city (and the weather was so ****ty, but there's not much we can do about that one - we had April flowers, and now we're having May showers; I blame Global Warming).

Good one!  I figured if I wore my Habs regalia you wold guess it was me.  (Although you'll notice I said the first words, after that intial awkward stare. )

Hey, That's my line (I say that every time something is funny. When it's hysterical.... I omit the "almost" )
