The thing that upsets me most about losing this series is not having Saks play the final four complete games. It feels like we're cheated out of this series and as a result doesn't feel complete because we didn't have one of our best players playing.
I think Saks was heating up when he went down in game three. If he would of continued and turned it on like at the Olympics, we probably would of went to seven games and then who knows?
In saying that, I don't recant any opinions of the regular season. I still feel he was inconsistent and lacking energy in many games. Took many penalties. Didn't increase his points/game with the new rules. Missed too much time with injuries again(regular season only, not cancer year or eye injury in these playoffs of course). Still think he will be over paid. Still feel he's getting help in the leadership department by a few players that could also wear the C.
The sad part about the above is, I was really hoping he'd redeem himself in these playoffs and I think to some degree he would of, like he did the last couple playoff series against Boston. It just doesn't feel complete.
I'm confident though, that in the next few years, he'll get way more help in the playoffs and this isn't the end all for critiqueing his playoff performances. For now though, it feels like a rip off...him laying in a hospital bed while we go down four straight!
To tell you the truth I've got the same feeling of being ripped off. After the Koivu injury a feeling of inevitability decended over the Habs. The air went out of the balloon, as we say in Norway. As for the season as a whole I remember posting in October that I would be happy if we made the playoffs, so I can't really complain...apart from that my dream of seeing the Canadiens on home ice came true, and they turned in some pretty good performances to boot. After walking the streets of the home of your team you always feel a little closer to them, be it Montreal, Manchester or where ever. One thing thoses two particular cities have in common is the terrible winter weather...
In a way the best thing for Saks is that we lost out. KNowing him and his heart, he would have tried to come back and play game 7 with a patch on his eye. Now he gets to heal at his own pace. I have often asked him to step up here because I know and he knows, he is capable of much more. But you will never see me question # 11's heart and desire.

But at least in Montreal you're not going to get beaten sensless for wandering into the wrong neighbourhood....
Hopefully he comes back hungrier next year and with a little more support we will not have to worry till the last few games about getting into the playoffs. This team will even be better next year.

Rosenborg...you're taking about Rosenborg from Trondheim, right, the best Norwegian socer team for the last 20 years? I have been to their ground, yes. It's been a while, most of their great stuff, beating R. Madrid and AC Milan I've only seen on TV. My ex wife grew up in the shadow of their floodlights, so there was a period of my life I spent a lot of time in that part of the world...Why do you ask...oh yeah, Arsenal played there last year...(The correct name is Rosenborg BK (ballklubb))We just call them RBK...
