Did anyone else watch the CBC telecast tonight and notice how neutral (but still stupid) Harry Neale was? I wonder if all the email complaints from Habs fans like us curbed his anti Habs tirades?
actually Kahuna, i beg to differ. he's clearly totally anti-Hab. he just thinly disguises it and expresses it in subtle ways. i notice it every single game, numerous times per game. it's pathetic that on Hockey Night in Canada, the announcer is cheering for the team from Carolina. or any other team going against Canada's most successful sporting franchise.
I'd also like to point out that he's a senile old fool who never gets the call right..... quick example: "i think the butt end of Ward's stick caught koivu's eye!" .... i say to my dad "Neale is a #%@#% idiot, it was Williams' stick, what's wrong with this guy"..... 3 mins later Neale will act as if he's a genius and say "ooooooh u know what folks! i just realized, it was the stick of Williams".
Watching games with him commentating is torture, and i'm sick of it.
consider yourself fortunate you don't have to listen to the idiots on the Carolina telecast, today for example when Cullen ran into Huet who was heading back to his crease:
"You know, it's not really Cullen's fault, he doesn't know what route Huet is going to take back to his crease"
what!!!???? are you guys #%^###&*# retarded? What route? He's 2 feet from the crease!! Please habs, put these idiots to rest!

You've got it all wrong redlight, I know he's an idiot and anti Hab, I'm just saying he seemed much more subdued tonight and that the letters habs fans have been sending the CBC might have something to do with that.
Did anyone notice how happy Neale sounded when Rivet blasted the puck by Ward and hit the iron? Harry is pro any team playing the Canadiens. He probably hates the Habs because the Canadiens handed him so many losses as the Canucks' coach.
i agree foreverfan, and i did notice...... kahuna, ya sorry about that...... we're agreeing, we're just on a bit of a mixed-up communication but essentially saying the same thing.
I got so sick of it last night i switched to RDS after the second goal. I couldn't understand much but at least what i did understand was right and they had the right bias.

What I REALLY had to laugh at was after Carolina scored on a screen shot on Huet. Mr. brilliant said "The most sickening sound for a goalie is hearing that puck hit the net behind him" at which time Jim Hughson (probably realizing how assinine that comment was) said "You mean the puck actually makes a noise when it hits the mesh?" and Neale swore it did. Now I have played goal for alot of years and trust me, I have seen my share of pucks hit the mesh behind me...not one time do I recall hearing it hit the mesh, especially with a rink full of cheering fans!!
Then to make matters worse, Neale claimed that he could tell just by the sound of the puck hitting the post that it was not going in...can you say IDIOT?

I was wondering abut that too, Barry. (i.e. if there was any sound, not how many you let in over the years!)
That made no sense to me. Neale doesn't seem like he knows anything about hockey, especially for a guy who has been around high levels of it for years!

Nilsey- if you believe nothing else I say in this lifetime, trust me on THIS one. I have dug more pucks out of the net behind me then Rita McNeil has eaten donuts,

I caught that too Barry. I've played goal for many of the last 32 years, and let me tell you, I've let in A LOT of goals. You hear the ones that go in off the post or slam in to the back of the bottom of the net...but come on, the sound of it hitting the mesh?!?! What a collosal maroon Neale is. Uninformed and stupid is no way to go through life Harry!
Kinda like the sound of a thought passing through Harry Neale's ears...whhhooooossshhh
hey how about this....... "most times, the best penalty killer is the goalie"...... he has said that during pretty much every single hockey game that he has ever commentated that featured a goalie making a good short-handed save, yet when he says it, he says it in a tone that tries to imply that he is witty, and also that he just thought of the line on the spot.
Ya, what a joke, the line is older than he is and is a completely obvious statement. I mean you're down a guy and the goalie is apt to face more shots, of course he needs to be the best penalty killer...duh Harry, duh!
I honestly wonder when they will just ask him to retire.... He is embarrassing himself... It takes Jim Houghston to painfully clarify everything he says because he has almost completely lost his marbles... He has become nothing more then a rambling old man... its unprofessional and asinine to watch him fumble through a 3 hour telecast.
