Predictible first period, Canes come out on fire in the first half, Habs were equal in the second half. Looking like we're in the game now. Hope for a strong 2nd!

Like a fool, I'm watching CBC and that fool Harry Neale is missing yet another good game...this poor clown really has no idea what's going on at all

Brutal first period.  Thank God (and Sainte Lorette) it's only 1-0.

The only forwards who showed up for that period are the Czeching line (Perezhogin/Zednik/Plekanec); everyone else was invisible.  Still, a bit more life in the last five minutes or so, so we may have weathered the storm.

Shoot from the point and crash the crease.

Go Habs!

There is something wrong with Kovy , he is just not himself and that spells trouble for us . I feel bad for Huet because he is playing so well to keep us in the game. The next goal is important  cant go down 2-0-- Edited by davidb at 20:15, 2006-04-30

If not for Huet, it's 3-0. Kovy is missing passes and cheating too much. Looks lost.

KOVY SCORESSSS!!! OK Gainey lovers..jump all over me now...but can someone else on this board pleaaaaaaase explain to me what the hell we were doing playing a 1-4 trap when we were down 1-0 in a crucial playoff game?!???? After Carolina went up 2-0 Gainey had them switch to an attacking game and now the pressure is on. But I would dearly love to get inside Gaineys head and find out what on Gods good earth he was thinking of having them play a trap down 1-0.!!!

Damn, I wish that period had 22 minutes (intentional pun), the boys came alive at the end, Gainey must have hooked up the jumper cables!

Somewhere in between that second Carolina goal and me distracting myself with registering for the forums, a whole new game broke out..

Let's hope this spark carries over into the 3rd!

You know something Barry I do not believe he (BG) has come out of the 1980s yet. He just has made some bad decisions.   please help me, I cannot stand these two bozos on FSN South  the canes TV channel. Where is RDS French when u need them. These guys make it sound like all Canes walk on water  Ok Kovy  u did it right at the right time. The end of a period.now lets comeout quick and tie it and then go ahead and take it 4-2

Actually read my post above Kahuna..Gainey had them playing a 1-4 trap while being down a goal. Carolina actually did the habs a favor by getting that second goal because all of a sudden the light bulb goes on and they say "OH..guess we cannot play trap down 2 goals"...geeeeeessssssssssh Louise I dont know.

Canes lead 2-1 after two periods of play.

Gainey needs to yell at these refs - just once - to show he cares. There was interference with Huet and he did nothing... He needs to show a little bit of emotion.

Good first post, Jean.  You get my vote for best handle yet (Jean Narrache = j'en arrache).  Very clever!

Ya I saw it Barry, got to agree, playing a 1-4 trap when you're down a goal and facing a hot goalie does defy logic

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

And I wish I could take credit for the handle, however this one is much older than me. Look up Emile Coderre for the true source..

FU** Tackle and hog tie Ryder and no penalty@!!?!?! We didn't play well enough to win, but the officiating once again made sure!!! I'm not a ref complainer as a rule, but 3 games in a row is complete bull****!

2-1, 3-2 and 2-1.  These one-goal losses hurt.  Couldn't bury the few chances they had (if only Ribeiro had a shot!).............

Well, they now have to win at home.

Allez les Habitants!

Kahuna I feel your pain. BG better make some statements to the press after the game. He has shut up long enough. He must show his support for his players in staed of standing there like a ZOMBIE. I want the Habs fans to see a win on Tuesday. Come on Habs  take it to them at home. I just have a feeling someone is going to break out.  Begin or Kovy perhaps

Habs played better tonight than the other night, but still took WAY TOO LONG to wake up. Can't start games like that and expect to win.

By the way, I'm not buying the whole argument that goaltending is the only reason we're in this series. We have been outgoaltended since Ward took Gerber's place, and that's with Huet playing well. Goaltending has NOT been the difference for us. The only game that was decided by goaltending was game 3, which went against us.

'Canes have made me hate them with unsportsmanlike crap.

Good post! Also Bonk took a really stupid penalty at the end.

Ribs had top half of net and didn't barry it on their PP!

I'd scratch Ribero next game and send him packing in the off season. Hate to single anyone out, but this guy offers nothing in my opinion. He's the proverbial "can go into the corner with 2 eggs in his pocket and come out without scrambling them" kind of player. It's one thing for a supremely skilled player like Kovy to turn it on when he wants to, it's another thing when a guy like Ribs, who has spent the majority of his career in the doghouse, to do it.
