The team is doing ok. That's the part that And-o and AB don't understand. It's a team sport and everyone is stepping up when it counts. If they want to nit-pik, go ahead and do it to Carolina, Philly, Dallas and the NYR who are down 0-2.

Ribs, Kovalev and Bonk have all stepped up their play and that my friends is what equals playoff success. Would I like to get more value for what I am paying Koivu? Of course. But it ain't my money either.

Look guys the great news is this...the Habs are up 2 games to zip inspite of the fact that Koivu has not played near his best hockey! This, as Martha says, is a GOOD thing. Let's hope we sweep and the boys get a few days off before round two. IMHO the only thing wrong with Koivu right now is fatigue. Nothing that a nice bit of R& R will not cure. THEN we have our captain back at full speed, everyone else kicking butt...look out!

It's is very encouraging that even if our captain has yet to register more than 1PPG and lead our young team in the room we are still winning games. So, if we get whinning with the winning, then so be it. We should al let the whiners have their cheese.

Funny how when one person gets on AB and EVERYONE jumps on the wagon to start busting his balls. I have heard it from him every week since the I started on this board, but he is absolutely right and Koivs has not contributed the way we would all like (and just as much as some people would probably like). I am a staunch Koivu-guy, but he has been invisible for the most part so far in this series and has been no where near where he should be offensively. The positive is that he fed Ryder for the winner and we are up 2 games to nil. If Koivu didn't score another point but we keep winning, I would be ok with that.

Props to Komi for the best game I have ever seen him play.

I don't think it's people jumping on the wagon. It's people agreeing that maybe, just maybe, he's the one busting balls, with his broken record...after an emotional playoff win. Whatever!!!!

From AB: "Actually the box scores show zero shots on goal"

Shots on goal are not registered on shots where you miss the net. It's nothing to brag about, but Koivu did have a few shots that missed the net. That's all I was saying. (And one of them didn't miss the top corner by much.)

New avatar in honour of this thread's creator.

By the way, Ab, Koivu's first shot was on a 2-1 when he fired it high (and wide) as per Rollie's scouting report on Gerber Baby. At least bash with correct facts.

The custom avatar is a winner, Figaro, just like our beloved Habs. This thread is disturbing because it puts the emphasis on the wrong things, like one player's stats.

The team won, everybody. End of story. Was Koivu an offensive dynamo? Who cares? He was there when we really needed him, wasn't he?

It makes no sense to compare him to Kovy or anyone else. SKU has a specific role to play for the team that I believe involves more than scoring goals. Did anyone mention his back-checking? Methinks that BG wants him to play a patient, defensive-minded role and look for opportunities as they present themselves. Just like he did in the second OT.

The one part of his game that I didn't like was his faceoff work, where he was repeatedly thrown out of faceoffs. A player of his caliber has got to learn what the linesman will accept and not accept and adjust to it. Too many times he was kicked out of the circle and the team suffered as a result.

But that's small potatoes in the grand scheme. The team won and that mnakes Koivu a winner in my book.
