Carolina was 36-3 in the regular season when they scored the first goal of a game. When I heard the announcers say that (at the 50-second mark), my heart just sank. Then at 1-1 I felt better. But the Habs sure beat the odds, eh?
That's why I ignore the regular season once playoffs come. It's the beginning of a whole new season in the playoffs. After the "who plays who" due to how they placed in reg. season, nothing else that happened is worth anything. You don't automatically win the cup because you placed 1st by season's end, so it's up in the air.
We may be the underdogs but.... we keep playing like we did last night & we'll have a shot at the cup. Although we can't expect the other goalies to play as bad as Gerber did last night, our team did play some good, fast & strong hockey.
