All week on Montreal, sports radio, Team990, the biggest story was "the book of Cristobal Huet". Sad to see Pierre McGuire flip flop on this. Two weeks ago he mentioned that there is no book on Martin Gerber, and on Friday he correctly mentioned that every goalie has a book. Which is what I've been saying all along.
Well after Game 1, Gerber's book is easy to read. JUST SHOOT ON GOAL. ANYWHERE, BUT JUST SHOOT.
i remember listening to the Team 990 a few mornings ago when they were talking about Pierre's book on Cristobal Huet... It's amusing seeing how much some people just refuse to cut the habs any form of slack whatsoever... I believe it was Denis Cassovant (sp?) that brought up the fact that every goalie has a book yet the only book that TSN ever seems to open is that of Habs goaltenders...

Huet's book was a 500 page novel last night. Quite a good read if you ask me
Where as Gerber's was a Dr. Seuss "pop up" book.....
To Mario's point, Gerber was what a lot of us expected. As was said before, the key to this series is we have goaltending and Carolina doesn't. So, we play a simple game and throw shots at the net and, voila, round 2. We played a great game without the puck, lots of the shots against were when we were shorthanded.
Nice to see McGuire eats his words. You are correct it is like when the Habs have a great game, they move the line in the sand even farther away. I hope the Habs surprise everyone in this series. Hope the Habs can come out strong in game two

Did you see how the Canadiens scored their 6 goals? No fancy tic-tac-toe passes, get the highlight reel goal. Instead, Bouillon, Kovalev, Bonk, Souray all shot on goal. Higgins pusposely banked it off Gerber's back.
They are sticking to a game plan and it's working.

And from what I saw of the game so far (first 3 goals as NHL.com highlights aren't up yet) it was more of the same tonight. I actualy called it right - the key was to kill Gerber and, voila, up 2-0. Now, stay out of the bow and bring out the brooms.
