872,193; a new NHL attendance record
Permalink Closed

The Canadiens beat their own attendance record after registering their 41st sell-out crowd this season.  The new attendance record is 872,193, and the sell-out streak that now dates back to 64 consecutive home games.

The previous attendance record was set back in their inaugural season in their new home, 1996-97 season, when they registered an attendance of 861,072 spectators.

Mario..this is exactly why Hab fans demand alot. It's a two way street. Very loyal fans that pay huge money to support their team. Gainey said it himself this season..."the fans are our share holders if you will"

thats alot of people and money , if the average price of a ticket is 100 thats 80 million in gate alone and only paying out 39 to the players (less)gillett will be supporting some of his less fortunate owners thanks to the new cba.

What's your source on that?  Thought MTL was the leader in this regards.

And the Habs sellout record goes to prove that even without selling out (ie Toronto, NYR) we can still draw fans.

He's right. I remember hearing on TV awhile ago that Colorado has sold out for a number of years.

I didn't think they'd even played 600 home games yet.  What, 12 years at 41 games?
