I am here and a big BG supporter. The team came out firing last night and got beat by goaltending. We weren't beat because who we had in the net.
I'm neither a Gainey supporter nor basher. I question the goalie choice last night, but agree with John it was not the deciding factor. Well, a goalie was the deciding factor - theirs, not ours.

I have to say that Gainey is totally baffling me with these goaltending games!!! If not for Huet we are not in a position to clinch..play and simple. And you reward him by benching him for a second rate goalie you picked up in a trade? I am not saying Abby has been playing poorly. I am just totally blown away by Huet on the bench. I can tell you that as a coach, there would be more chance of Keith Richards winning a beauty contest than me sitting Huet.

Hey Mulsy, where are you, my rival? At church praying?
Well AB, I'm here. And I did watch the game last night. Back to back losses to a pretty darn good Buffalo team re-enforces my thoughts on this team. I like the effort and team cohesivness of late, but they can't compete with top teams. Montreal needed that win last night and you could tell they wanted it...but alas...4-2.
So it won't matter IMO if the make the playoffs or not...it will only be an extra 4-5 painful games to watch anyhow.
On a positive note: I like the development this year of Higgins, Plek, Komi,Markov, Ryder. Nsxt year we should go deep into the playoffs( once Gainey grabs a top center to play with Kovalev).
So AB, I am here and still a BG supporter. This year was a transition year and I knew it from the start. I even commented back in September how this team reminded me of that 1986 team( solid rookies and veterns). I don't think this team is going to have the same luck if they squeek into the playoffs...but the future team look pretty good to me.

Mulsey- I felt and stated that when Gainey did not go out and get anyone at the trade deadline that he had effectively written off the team for this year (perhaps preferring to build over the summer or bring along prospects) and now I think I am right. We are one-two big players (center and a dman) from competing with the "real teams" in our division. We get up against a good team and a good goalie and we just do not have enough. I refuse to try and get inside Gainey's head as he has proven he knows what he is doing.

Actually Mulsy...I was just wondering where you have been. Even though, I conversely disagree with every single one of you posts, I still read them for kicks.

AB you disagree with my posts because my posts are always corrrect. Especially whenit comes to RIBBY. So what have I said this year that AB has disgreed with...???
1. At the start of the year and even the previous year: Ribby is a floating fancy boy who is over-rated. Any arguments? Maybe from And-o but he might be too busy reading inspirational books to respond to this post.
2. Koivu is the habs most consistent forward. If you care to argue this one, then I have a great war in Iraq I would like to sell to you...it's all about "freeing" the people and nothing about oil...
3. At the start of the year...Theo is a spolied homeboy who has let the size of his head get in the way. Any arguments?
...Ab, the main reason you don't agree with my posts is that I was one of the first to call out your hero Ribs for what he really is. And having him as your hero is about as embarrasing as saying "tinker bell" was your favorite childhood character...that would put just about anyone on the defensive.

Too funny!
Not sure why And-o gets mentioned in a thread about Ribs! Anyway...Koivu sure is consistent though...can't argue that...he plays 3 or 4 games...then is virtually a non-factor for another 3 or 4!!! That is pretty fair to say to! And-o has been very, very, very generous in not Koivu bashing. My one question is...when is Saku going to lead this team in the 'real games' (as some have said). And-o is waiting patiently!

Koivu showed up last night and got the team back in the game when they were down 1-0, can't say the same about the Kovy, Ribs line...
JohnM...you must be joking!?!?!? Koivu's contributions last night were limited exclusively to the face-off circle!!! I'm not bashing...it is just a fact! With his PP time...and his linemates...I think everyone should expect more!
...I'm really not bashing the guy JohnM...but he really didn't meet expectations last night! And, the Ribs, Kovy and Bulis line were about 10X better last night! Just a fact! Sorry! True though!
Ya, when we are up 2-1 in the 3rd with 12 minutes left in a must win game, you don't give up a short handed goal against. After that goal, the team had nothing left.
Sorry Andy, can't agree. Ryder, Koivu and Higgins had 11 shots and scored a PP goal. Bulis, Ribs and Kovy had 7 shots and allowed a SH goal against. Like you said, Koivu was the only guy who was decent in the faceoff circle and he made a pass to Souray all alone which could've tied the game at the end.
I don't think the Ribs line played badly, they actually played quite well until the turning point of the game. The short handed goal against was a back breaker and this is why I can't agree with you.

Doesnt everyone know not to talk bad about Koivu or disagree with Johnm that the Koivu line was quiet all night and did not do a single effective thing! You are in for it if you do mention something like that. Johnm is just too hard headed and doesnt want to budge his opinion so he doesnt look bad!!! thats all!
Anti-Saku11, I pretty much explained my opinion. You on the other hand have no backing for yours but that's the same as most of your posts.
I dont need to explain or back my post as they are clear as day! You on the other hand cant get your head out of the sand and realize your posts are ALL THE SAME!!!! Blame everyone else....but Koivu! thats your game! You are in the Denial stage bud!

Geez Saku11. It's pretty hard to argue that short handed goal was the killer. What is the point is yipping about Koivu when he pretty much has been the habs best forward all year?
Even if you are short sighted enough to feel that he has not done much...he has done more even offensively than every other player except Kovalev.
Now Ribby....that's the guy we should all be talking about. What a useles slab of meat that guy has been all year...
Muller, Saku's problem is that the bigger the games and the harder the teams we play, the least you will see of him. He hasnt played Consistant hockey, thats all i argue about with him. He has 2 good games in a row and then pufffff......he is gone for 7 or 8. No sign of him. The Ribeiro line has been playing consistant now for at least 5 or 6 games. They are creating chances and opening up space for Kovalev to work thru! Also my problem with JonhM is that he is pointing fingers at the RIbs line last game???Where was the Koivu line? there were more chances out there by the Ribs line than the Koivu line!!!! We all need to pinch in a buy hiim a TV and have him stop using the radio as a source of "watching" the game.
Let me re-post since you aren't too good with the reading part:
"Ryder, Koivu and Higgins had 11 shots and scored a PP goal. Bulis, Ribs and Kovy had 7 shots and allowed a SH goal against. Like you said, Koivu was the only guy who was decent in the faceoff circle and he made a pass to Souray all alone which could've tied the game at the end.

Ain't it great when the facts win your arguments for you eh? The sooner people on this board figure out that Ribby is the source of the habs problems this year...the better. Oh and if you don't think he is that much of a factor?....he plays on the second line!!!
Koivu does everything well( faceoffs, Points, defense, speed, grinds). Yet somehow people think no points in 2 games makes him "inconsistent".

are you trying to prove that you squeezed in a "oh the ribby line played well"????Gimme a break John this isnt about what you said or who said what! this is simply the fact that You cant get your head out the sand or whatevver it is you have shoved in! You must be Koivu's butler or driver or something! Let this be a fact to YOU and MULLER.....everyone here agrees Koivu needs to play better, with the exception of you and a handfull!!!! What do you think aboout that FACT !
Saku11, this is about your lack of hockey knowledge and nothing more. You know zero about the sport and never use facts to backup your theories. You are and always will be a Koivu hater and that's ok. Just be ready to be crapped on when you pull it out of your a@@ and post here.
