MONTREAL – Goaltender Cristobal Huet was named Player of the Month for the second straight time as he won the Molson Cup for the March/April segment.
Huet and Canadiens captain Saku Koivu collected 30 points in Molson Cup standings, but Huet was declared winner thanks to four first star selections.
During this period, Huet played in 17 games and posted a record of 11-5-1, with five shutouts, including two in a row on March 9 in Boston and on March 11 against the New York Rangers. In 1021:40 minutes of action, he allowed 32 goals for a 1.88 goals against average and stopped 463 of the 495 shots he faced, for a save percentage of .935. Huet was also named NHL Defensive Player of the Week twice, for the periods ending March 5 and April 2.
A presentation honoring the Molson Cup winner will take place on Saturday April 15th, prior to the game against the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre.
Koviu put together a string of really good games. Lets just hope he gets going again, not that 2 bad games are a slump, but we can call it a mini slump. It'll be great to see Koviu firing on all cylinders for the playoffs.
