Let us face facts. This guy is our enforcer! First shift on fourth line and the guy takes care of the 260 lb Norton. Something our shadow boxer, didn't want to do. With Murray in the line up, Downey isn't needed at all. Notice how Downey didn't play much second half of game and Habs were much better for it. It's a no brainer, leave Zed/Sunny in next game and add Laperiere rather than Downey. Also, Murray is our grinder and enforcer but shouldn't be no more than a third line player.
Also, Gainey needs to start resting tired players. Saks looks like he has tired legs again. Rivet and Markov need a rest big time. Kovy running out of energy while carrying the puck...losing it alot. Souray and Dandy could use a little rest.
I came on this board the day after Hossa was traded and said that Murray was going to be a player that would contribute for many years in Montreal. Although biased because he is a friend of mine, he'll always give 100% and never back down from anyone. I thought he more than handled himself against the heavyweight. Take my word....he'll wear a letter one day with the Habs too.....he is a born leader. He captained the Regina Pats for several years and was a valuable contributor to the World junior team. He''ll have to step it up even further now with injuries to our forth liners. I'd take him on my team before Hossa anyday. Is Hossa even in the picture still in NY????

Right, of course. So I guess we weren't the only ones.
The injuries are piling up for a lot of the best teams, who will no doubt coming whining to the league office. I'm hoping this means a change in the Olympic tourney (youth players, please!).

Agreed. Murray also appears to be a good skater and has some offensive upside. I do not see that with Downey at all (although his skating is pretty good). Murray has a few tip-in goals this year.
