Vancouver fans calling for Naslund's head
Permalink Closed

It's not only Habs fans who want their captains head on a block when their team is failing. The Canucks fans believe he is not the right man for the job, he's too quiet, not a good leader...

Funny how certain fans are pretty much the same no matter which team is being cheered for.

Very typical of fans who don't know what goes on behind closed doors.  Do these fans watch too much 110%?

Well if they don't want him, I'd take him for his skill. We don't need his leadership with Souray and the gang but just let the guy play hockey. He needs a change and we could use his offense.

Gotta feel for Vancouver fans.  If you woulda told them before the season that

1) The twins would finally emerge as dynamic offensive threats

2) Anson Carter would score 30 goals and be among the best bargain free agent pickups in the league.

3) Alex Auld would emerge as a legit number 1 goalie.

4) Bryan Allen and Nolan Baumgartner would become valuable NHL defencemen, and strong contributers in the bottom 4 of their defence.

They would tell you if all those things happen they will take their division title and possibly a number 1 seed in the playoffs.  Now they might not even make the playoffs.  Seems Naslund and Bertuzzi are easy targets.

"Souray and the gang" eh?
Very subtle AB.

I'm picking Souray, Rivet and Begin. You guys can pick who ever you want to fit in the word...Gang. I don't care.

My point is Naslund is very skilled and may need a change. He's more of a complete player than Kovy and would fit in well. Whatever though, I was just dreaming of adding some skill.

It may be even worse, I was listening to a loafs radio show in the car today, and Bill Waters was saying the Vancouver dressing room may be the most divided in the history of the league. He said they're divided in to two camps, plus the Bertuzzi mess has haunted them all season, & basically that Trevor Linden was a locker room disease that was hated throughout the league. He also added that it was nothing short of a miracle that this team was in the playoff hunt at all.

After that, I figure any problems the Habs had sure seem minor!

Actually, I heard about the Linden thing also. The guy doesn't like to play second fiddle to anyone and thinks he's the actual Captain. I think the guy is on a huge power trip spurred by the union mess.

That would sure explain why his stays in Montreal, Washington & NY Isles were so short...of course it baffles me why Vancouver re-aquired him.
