I'm watching the game, early in the second period.  Mrs. d walks in, and I tell her that Boston has not scored on Cristobal Huet in over 11 periods.  I haven't finished saying the word "periods" when Bergeron puts one in.

I guess I jinxed them.

Sorry...........

My wife has little interest in the Habs or hockey *, so I didn't think my comment would "take".  I guess no one is immune.  I'll keep quiet from now on.

* there is something wrong with that!

I brought my wife to a couple of Habs-Leafs games. I also game her some Habs gear for the game -- which she reluctantly wore because it didn't match her work suit. Anyways, she's really coming around. She doesn't speak French, but she'll watch the game on RDS with me.

And I shoudn't pick on my wife.  She accompanied me to two games in Montreal over  the years - one a playoff game in the Stanley Cup year of 1993 (Habs won 4-3 in OT, with Carbonneau potting the winner), the other a season-opener against the Rangers and Wayne Gretzky (won by the Good Guys 7-1; their only 7-goal game that year!).

So I guess you could say she's a good luck charm................

(She was for me at least!)

Are you sure they won an overtime game in the playoffs that year???

Yes, I know they won a record number of ot games in the playoffs that year.

My wife is not allowed in the room when the game is on. The opposition has an uncanny ability to score when that jinx is in a room with a tv.
