when kovalev missed that empty net feed, bulis for sure would have put the pass on the toe of the blade, not the heel, thus enabling kovalev to not hit the post but rather the back of the net.
this guy, in my opinion, has played very well the last while. his confidence is up, his creativity is up, and most importantly, his play is up. we will never, ever get him confused with a defensive minded player, grinder/banging type, but thats because we dont need to... we got enough of them. he has been playing phenomenal with kovalev, and i felt tonight was another solid, if unspectacular night. it's just one more weapon and dimension teams have to suddenly worry about. i truly dont believe that its a coincidence that this teams fortunes have started to turn for the better when ribeiro has started to get his game back. its not all him, but he is an integral part, and needs to get the credit he deserves.
enough profiling... bonk is FINALLY getting his due (shameless plug), now its ribeiros time.

If this was meant to suggest that Ribby is actually playing well...I don't get it.
I mean...he stinks...really bad. But I trust Gainey. He has kept him in for a reason. Anyone playing that bad and remain in the lineup must have done something right.
Let's hope Gainey's patience with the skinny runt pays off soon.
Ok about Ribs...... He should be benched for Bulis and put Bulis ac C on the second line.... But guys don't worry about Ribs, he's a good player he'll get his game back for sure.
I don't know, I'm not a huge fan of Ribeiro (I'm not a hater either), and I don't think he's gonna cut it as a top-two line player in the NHL. But I actually want to defend him here. I think he might need a game or two off (replace with Bulis) and then a chance to regain that chemistry with Kovalev. He was showing us some effort of late, and I agree with (I think) Barry's point that what Gainey is probably trying to do is send out the message that giving it for your team is more important than your skills. So Ribeiro's small and slow. If he goes all out he's more valuable than a Bulis who's complaining about his role on the team.
Seems Gainey wants Bulis to change his focus. He said he doesn't need someone else to be a scorer, but needed a good checker. Maybe Bulis was trying a little too hard to pad his stats for his UFA status this summer?

Actually Plouf, I think that is what I was saying.

Ha ha...ok. I wasn't sure but I remember it was one of the better posters. How's that sound?

I still can't believe that with all the inconsistency from Ribeiro, the laziness and the lack of fire in his game, that people still actually defend this guy?
All the talk of the "chemisty" with Ribsy and Kovy...where is it? Where was it? I'm still waiting for it. Doesn't chemistry pertain to productive play and generating goals? I associate chemistry with players who actually PRODUCE, like Thornton and Cheecho, Savard and Kovalchuk, Alffy and Heatly, Jagr and whomever he is playing with.
Please stop selling the supposed "Kovalev - Ribeiro Chemistry" because it has never really existed.

I can not remember which game now (Philly, 3-16 maybe) where Ribeiro laid somebody out on his first or second shift- I remember the wife and I shouting, "All right, this kid is finally going to do what the team wants and stop worrying about being a superstar." You know what he has done since then? Well? When he plays well, he plays great. The rest of the time, he is simply watching my favorite hockey team from an ice level vantage point. Did anybody have a coach ever tell them "If ya wanna watch the game, i'll sit ya down where ya have a great view. If ya wanna play, get in there and DO something." Maybe Ribs would benefit from watching Bulis play a couple of games...
I thought he played really well last game and set up Kovy and Zed lots. If he's passing well in key areas, he's doing his job and the recipients need to put the puck in the net. Too many missed chances last game that the puck should of been barried. Also Zed is in a funk like Ryder was. I hope he can gain some confidence and find the net soon.
