i hope not on that last 1 about the bbd line , i found they where hemmed in there end alot by the oveckin line , why downey ,maybe murry , bulis must have really **** on bob gainey to be treated the way he has . and if micky ribs isnt sat out next game there is no justice .
Sometimes Bulis needs a fire lit under him. But you're right, Gainey seems to have singled out Bulis (for the second time), and it's weird, because he hasn't been as brutal as a couple of other players.
i focused primarly on Saku Koivu who snapped a 23 goalless streak scoring the game winner in OT. Saku's quotes: “Huge win for us”: “This point (OT winner) might be very valuable in the end”. All I was thinking was “… make the team win. Not scoring didn’t bother me too much”. After the Olympics, “…. It took me 2-3 weeks to find my legs again”. When asked to comment on his linemates Michael Ryder and Chris Higgins, Koivu adds: “… both these guys have lots of character. They drive to the net”. Oh yeah, from Bob Gainey's post game press conference, expect to see Begin-Bonk-Downey used more often to shut down the oppostion's top line. Mario-- Edited by mperra (Admin) at 00:53, 2006-03-31
It sounds like Gainey will use Downey a lot. That means guys like Bulis or Sunny sit. Don't you guys think that Sunny or Bulis would be great on that fourth line especially for checking? Downey is just plain lacking in ability other than bumping a player 5 seconds after they passed the puck.
I really think Gainey is wrong on this one. I would keep using seven D and use Simpson's toughness rather than dress Downey if he won't use Bulis.
Also, even if he plans on not signing Bulis and Sunny, they're are still under contract, so why not get the most bang for your buck and use them to motivate other players. For example, Ribs, Perez and maybe even Plecs play has been dropping off so plug Bulis in there and rotate the bench warmers to keep everyone hungry and rested. I would even keep Bulis happy enough to use him rather than Saks and Kovy to rest them for the playoffs for a couple games or so if we secure a playoff spot.
I don't usually second guess Bob but....Bulis is a more useful player than Ribeiro.
Here is what I think...I think Ribeiro has shut his yap and actually accepting his role on the team. Gainey recognizes that Ribeiro is useless but is holding Ribeiro up as an example..." become a team player and even if you suck...I will play you".
It is consistent with Bob's philosphy of winning as a team and not individuials. That is all I can figure because it's a no brainer to remove Ribby and insert Bulis IMO.
