Why i love Le Journal De Montreal......
Permalink Closed

Went into the gas station today and saw the news paper racks. Front pages had your normal killings, hijackings, war in iraq stuff, mess in parliament stuff, etc. etc. Then you get to Montreal's news paper. HUET SHUTS OUT ISLANDERS front page with a full page picture of Huet. Hockey is MONTREAL!!! When a win in sports is your number 1 story over everything, it just shows how important the sport is to this city!!! GO HABS GO

Ya, Johab, must be fun.  Our local paper (the Acadie Star or something like that in my corner of Dieppe) has cover stories of the local junior high badminton players.  And in 3 colours (black, white and green...the official colours of l'Acadie.)  But, I agree. Montreal isn't Montreal without NHL Hockey.  Sadly, no one really misses the Expos, but should anything happen to the Habs, I think most people would leave the city.

Me too.  Especially Coco LaBoy.

I see Marquis Grissom retired yesterday.  He was one of my favourites too.

I also miss the Expos, miss going to the Big O and catching a game, the atmosphere in the Rogers Centre just isn't the same.

Didn't Warren Cromartie play for the Expos?  I watched this guy hit a HR off of Jeff Reardon (when he was closing for the Sox).  Cromartie had just returned from playing ball in Japan for a number of years.  He was with Kansas City and took The Terminator deep.  That's the closest I ever got to the Expos.

Yes, Cro was an Expo.  He was a good one, too, in his day.

There have been a few players over the years who have played for Montreal and the BoSox - Spaceman Lee and Dennis Martinez immediately come to mind.

Cromartie was my favourite player when I first started watching. Too bad he went to Japan. Anyone remember the Cro-bar? A chocolate bar they'd give out/sell once in a while...
