This is a team in need of a massive heart transplant. In the past seven games the Canadiens forwards have scored a total of seven goals. A goal a game average from the forwards is not going to get it done. When was the last time the Habs forwards drove consistently to the oppositions net? When was the last time the Canadiens forwards consistently created traffic in front of the goalie? Every coach from pee wee to the NHL states the old mantra, "go to the net and good things will happen". Apparently that thought process does not include members of the Canadiens forward units. If at least one of the forwards on each of the Canadiens forward lines had a nose for the net it would force a defense man to take that man and open up lanes for the other forwards. An ugly goal from a scramble, or a tip in counts as much as a pretty goal.

Too many players on this team do not want to pay the price, too content to play on the perhipery. Two days ago Koviu was being praised for having a face to face discussion with many of the players on the Canadiens, it is now time for Gainey to get in the face of the underacheivers and explicitly state what he expects from his best players. A lot more passion, desire to play in those areas on the ice where scoring chances are created. If players like Koviu,Kovalev,Zednik  and others are not willing to pay the price to create scoring chances then their ice time needs to be limited for those with less talent, but perhaps with more desire.
