Okay, I pretty much forgot that I only have one day left until I head to Montreal.  So, I need some advice from the locals.  I'll be coming in from the west (401 whatever that turns into in Quebec).  How close am I going to be able to get before I should park and grab a cab or metreo?

the 401 will split into hwy 20 and 40. 20, which goes along the south of Montreal, and is sort of like #8 is through stoney creek area. 40 goes along the top of the city and is like the QEW. from my experience, it is always jammed, all day ...(I go to Montreal 10-15x a year. Stay on 20 to get downtown. are you staying downtown ? if so, park at your hotel, the metro stops right at the Bell Centre., there are plenty of signs for the bell centre , if you want to park near it, it depends on how much you want to pay, there is plenty of parking, though you will have shop around for a good price. hope this helps a little. have a great time!!!

There is a little parking garage on the east side of Dorchester Sq.  (Peel St. and just south off St. Catherines, I think) that isn't too bad.  There are some pubs facing the square that you can hit along with the Habs faithful and the Bell Centre is only a few blocks south from there.
