Credit to Todd Simpson & Garth Murray

A long time ago we actually used to be a tough team (Chris Murray, Donald Brashear, Lyle Odelein etc.).  The Canadiens have been getting pushed around for years, so it was nice to see two guys really stand up for each other and themselves last night.


Good to see Simpson get right after Ben Clymer last night, after he tried to take Murray's head off, then good on Garth Murray (albeit he nearly got killed) fighting Matt Bradley later on in the 2nd.


Fights on the road are good for team spirit and chemistry.

I agree Mr. Cherry...fights are good for team spirit but not crucial. Finishing your checks are just as effective. We only have 2 players that hit...and one is 5'8".

I was saying this to a friend yesterday after Murray's fight. That we actually have a very tough team. Say what you want about players skill levels. But look at whom is 1) a strong hitter and a guy who is tough as nails game in game out:

Rivet
Souray
Begin

Simpson
Komisarek

Believe it or not, Tie Domi has gone on record as saying that he feels Souray is the toughest player in the league. Take that for what it is worth, but that is saying something coming from someone who has thrown his cocunut in front of a pile of knuckles in his day.

Do you think he meant he's tough in a fight? He surely doesn't really play a Scott Stevens style, which I considered a tough style.

I think he is just tough..period. No he is not a Scottg Stevens type..but he hits hard and if you notice, there are not alot of guys who want to drop the gloves with him.

Don't worry about Komi, it is coming and he is already showing some of it now. I don't think he will ever be a fighter, but there will be few opposing players who will ever want to be anywhere near him in the not too distant future.
