Rumblings that he might be bought out this summer and if so, do we make a run for him? If he will accept 2.5 mil I would definitely consider it. He is the big, talented, right-shooting center that Gainey and this board have all said we need. He is also used to playing with Kovalev so that could be a very nice match, especially with one of our young Ruskies on the other wing. He is weak defensively and not a big-gamer, so that is the big downer, but he may be our best possible grab until we develop someone or a better free-agent comes along. What do y'all think?
being close to Ottawa, i know Yashin REALLY well and the guy is well...an @$$hole!! A cancer in the dressing room, a 1 dimensional player, said to be uncoachable AND will show up only when he wants. Teams pick up this guy because he can score, but then are DYING to get rid of him. So...a DEFINATE no for me

I'm not prejustice but i've got a problem with these europee-in players (yashin, kovolev, etc.) they PLAY when they want.Don Cherry drives me crazy sometimes ,but the man is right ,give me a good canadian kid and fill the team with them.If your going to take 1-2-3 years to build a team lets try out some of those crazy canucks, they'll either go through the wall for your team ,or drive the other team snakey.Thats right lets have a team of canadian crop,we're paying out big bucks(to europee-in players) and not gettin results, how about it ,how many canadian kids can you say in the NHL don't come out every night and earn their money "PRIDE"

Why the C on his jersey??????? Is it the coaches hoping to motivate him or did the players choose him?
As bad as this guys attitude is, he would be our best player based on his production with the Isles who are a worse team than Habs. That's scary!
Apparently Yashin is the last one sticking around and signing autographs for fans, but yeah, I would be pretty worried about signing this guy, as well. I would only consider it if I guy like Arnott isn't available and if he will sign for relatively cheap after getting his huge buy-out.

Yeah. I remember Don Cherry of all people defending Yashin as a character guy when he was tanking in the playoffs for Ottawa. Who knows? I'd shy away from him though. Some kind of mental problems in big games it seems...

with all due respect ,obviously u havent watched an islander game or read anything about them
im from the ny area
every islander fan i speak to, say the problem with the islanders is yashin &kvasha(he is gone now)
u dont want anything to do with yashin ,i watch him on a regular basis and u are dead on when u say he is not a big gamer and is very bad defensively
