not a contender

Let's face the music guys and gals, The Habs are not a contender, matter of fact most night they are not even good pretenders. The work ethic has not been in Montreal for the past decade and it is going to take a monumentous task by management to change that. This team has a few building blocks but desperately needs some high grade material to continue the building process.

I have been a Habs fan for a half century and it hurts like hell to watch this great hockey franchise being represented by the present talent, (or lack there-of). I still think that Gainey is on the right track and in the next couple of years we will see some definite improvement. I listened to his comments after the game on CJAD and he is well aware that the present team is not a contender. He was disappointed by the lack of effort by some but did not get into naming them. He felt others were trying too hard, consequently making bad decisions resulting in give aways and missed chances.

My only prayer now is that the other teams ahead of the Laffs continue to win and deny the Laffs a playoff berth.... not much to look forward to but I can tolerate the Habs losing again this year but I DEARLY HATE TO SEE THE LAFFS IN THE PLAYOFFS EVEN FOR ONE ROUND.

Keep the faith

Great post, Larry. I have to agree, the way the team presents itself isn't too indicative of the pride most the player talk about when playing for the Habs. To me, it's like having a puzzle with 19 pieces and you know it makes a beautiful picture - but you can't seem to fit them together right...

i agree totally, to be a contender , you have to play like a unit almost every shift, night. there are games where even the best teams has a off- nights, but the habs has about 45% of there games as off-nights, which makes them non-contenders. they might make the play-offs, but every game makes us uneasy because we don't know which team will show up!!
