Scoring wins over the next 10 games is a must. After these 10, wehave tough games with New Jersey, Buffalo and Ottawa. So far, we have a good look at 7th, with one game in hand left. But, if you lose that game, there is no advantage. Here's our next 10 games:
PIT 3-1 vs. WSH 4-2 NYI 3-1 TO 4-5 (OT) TO 4-3 vs. PIT 4-3 NYI 2-5 WSH 4-2 BOS 4-2 BOS 3-0
total 7-2-1
8 of 10 at home. Guys, our playoff fate is in our hands. Couldn't ask for a bigger scheduling gift than this sequence. Ever the opotomist, I predict we need to win 6 just to keep up with Tampa and Atlanta. I think we'll take 7 of 10 with one OT loss. That will put us 7th with a 1-2 pts up on Atlanta. Tampa is going to fade. But, I tell ya, Montreal sure is walkin' the line.

So in a nutshell our next ten games are agianst teams that are below the Habs on the leaderboard. We can beat all of them. No projections - focus on winning EVERY one of the next 10 games.
Well, I won't get into predictions, but again I say the Habs' players have their playoff hopes squarely in their hands. Next ten games against "inferior" opposing teams, and most of them at home.
It looks like the Atlanta Thrashers will never lose - at least that's the attitude the Habs have to take; any loss by them will be a gift - so the Habs will have to win the winnable games. Atlanta won again last night. The Leafs lost, and I think we can stop thinking about them at this point.
For those of you who are jumping off the ledge this morning - bench the top players, fire Gainey, get rid of Aebischer, trade the whole team away, etc. - take a long breath and calm down, please!

Thats what they have left. those last 4 are almost guarenteed wins, meaning we will have to be ahead of them going into those last 4, and win out last 4 to ensure we get that spot...if it is of course the 8th we're fighting for.

wow atlanta and Tampa play each other 3 more times, this could be a good thing for the habs.
The Thrashers also play the canes twice, Carolina is still battling for first overall and that is also good for the Habs. but we need to take care of our own backyard first and take control of our own situation. Please don't choke, step on the gas pedal and lets get into another gear.

I fixed it up - and I think WSH can score more than PIT will, so final 4-2 because we'll take an E.N. goal.

The best scenario would be that one of those teams wins all 3. SInce we are racing with both of them. Unless Montreal opens a bit of a lead, then it would be better if they split (no OT please, that would kill us if all 3 of those games were OT). Atlanta is a little tougher schedule to start the next stretch with Buffalo, OTT and Carolina. So, now is the time. Now or never.
