Huet and Aebischer
Permalink Closed

I was hoping to have Huet resting last game and give Aebi some ice but Gainey didn't listen to me. Huet didn't seem as sharp with a mental cough up as he usually is with the puck.

Anyone know who's starting our next game?

Methinks #30 is in.  Didn't Ganiey say that Huet would not play both Monday and Thursday?  (And I wouldn't so much blame Huet for the loss and I would the team for not scoring.)

Yes, he did say that. So unless he's suddenly had a change of heart, you can expect Aebi in the net Thursday.

Not blaming him Figaro, Just thought he made one mistake with handling the puck that cost us a goal.

LOL AB - I had to give my head a shake to make sure I wasn't watching goalie # 60 on that puck handling attempt - I don't know how many times this season I yelled "THEO GET YOUR BUTT BACK IN YOUR CREASE!"  And I was one of his biggest fans, you'll all recall...

Huet was showing some fatigue, I think.  Abby will get the start and I look forward to a big game from him!

And if Abby has a good game? He'll probably get the next start. Then the competition will begin because you know Huet will be dying to get back in after a key loss to the team.

I was yelling right along with ya Habgirl!!! As much as i liked Theo, there was no denying he was the WORST puck handling goalie in the league!! Brutal!!! As for Huet, he seems to like handling the puck, and its already cost us 2 goals to my count. Being a goalie, i think its up to that person to decide wether or not they are a good puck handler or not, if not....dont go near the puck unless you know you have plenty of time to make the right decision. If you are besure if your under pressure you get rid of that puck fast and far enough that you can get back into position ready to clean up any mess you made. I personally feel i am a really good puck handler, BUT if i feel i have to take an unnecessary risk to get the puck, ill stay in my net and face a shot!

It's confirmed.   Aebischer gets the nod.

I'll say it again. Huet's actually pretty good at handling the puck. Not to condone his mistakes, but his puck handling has helped us out a lot in certain situations already. With some fine-tuning he'll sure as heck beat Theo by a mile.
