OK, we all seem to agree that we have lack of scoring, so why not stay with the philosophy of going with four lines. It seems that, our team is effective in scratching out goals that way because we wear the other teams down more especially when the Begin and Plecs lines get their forecheck going. Those lines don't exactly score but they give added life to the top two lines. The more every line plays, the more energy from every line. Gainey needs to face the fact that we don't have first line material other than maybe Kovy on wing.
Also, he has to get the PP sorted out. No way should the 2 minute PP clock be ate up by one ineffective line. Also last night, with Kovy on the PP, Sak wasn't able to distribute the puck to him. I think Kovy needs the puck to be the set up guy because he can open up the ice with either a pass or shot. It seems Ribs and Kovy have more chemistry together on the PP. That could change but for right now, that's what I notice. I prefered when he went with the two units. Saks, Higgins and Ryder then followed by Ribs, Kovy and Zed.
Anyway, it was just one game and I'm sure Gainey will get back to what works before too long. He has no choice!
