I totally agree - bring back downey at least he showed intensity.

We have to have a better defenceman on the farm - bring up Cote to replace Streit.

Brutal display of hockey tonight!!

Habs didn't play with much energy tonight however this team has played 8 games in 14 nights and Saturday's game was very emotional which possibly caught up with them.  Lets cut them some slack for tonight's game only and hope they  get back to the intensity they displayed on the road trip.

They don't have a choice anymore; they rely on Huet too much. He can't save them every game. I agree with Mac, Coté would be a better replacement than Streit. I'll go a step further and say...Where the heck is Simpson? Can we see him play a game? BG said that he would be our 7th D-man. Well, tonight was his a good time to put him in their.

Carolina next...we loose and we're back to where we started. What an exhausting roller coaster of a year!

I still don't think Downey is the answer. We need a four line attack to scratch some goals. How about while Markov is injured, trying Dandenault instead of Sunny. Keep streit in. Also Simpson in there instead of Dandenault on D. That would replace our toughness without using Downey while still giving us more forward balance. Dandenault is a way better skater than Downey. Just a thought!

Now that is quite an experiment AB. Mac wants to end the experiments. I kind of have to agree with Mac. Streit had several chances to prove his worth this season without success. If Markov is injured, just replace him with Simpson. We can't risk defensive breakdowns in a period where we aren't scoring goals

It's just that when we can't score goals, why go with Downey? If Sunny sucks than put out a forward that can at least have a chance to score.

Have you guys ever seen Simpson play?  This nerd couldn't even make Chicago's line-up.  If you DON"T want defensive breakdowns, then DO NOT play Simpson.  The guy is a defensive liability.

I was answering AB's quote where he wanted to experiment by putting Dandenault as a forward...

I was just making a point.  Simpson is tough as nails, but a crappy defenseman.  You don't become a journeyman because you are good player.

Shouldn't we see what he can bring us? BG traded for this guy and I've seen mediocre players turn it around before with no real explanation. If there's an injury to our regular 6 or Markov misses the next game, would you put back Streit or try Simpson?

I suspect that you will see Simpson dressed as a 7th dman and go with one less forward.

Streit and Sundstrom were both brutal -- I agree. I've never seen Simpson play a good game for any team, but maybe he will suddenly morph into a player if he dons the bleu-blanc-rouge. I guess that's what BG is counting on.

I like the idea of Dandy playing some forward, but not until Markov is back. Fill in for him with Cote then, I say. Cote has good puck handling skills and seems to be where he needs to be on D -- something that can't sure be said for Streit.

As for Sunny, maybe he's not motivated at the moment due to lack of ice time, but he's clearly a shadow of his former self (which since he left NYR, ain't saying much). I put him on my trade bait list fast and hope that some team looking for an experienced checking forward would take him.

Downey I'm sure about yet. He can skate better than most big fellas, and he hasn't made too many bone-headed plays that I've seen. But he also hasn't gotten much ice time. I can see how he might be an asset in a 7-game series against a team like the Laffs or Flyers.

Has anyone ever seen Sundstrum have a good game.  Has anyone actually ever seen him do anything?  That guy should be nicknamed "the stealth bomber" cause he is always under the radar.

Last game I watched, 3 games ago. He was excellent.

Murray Wilson commented last night that he felt Sundstrom was a big part of our last two shutouts.

Sundstrom never does the spectacular stuff, and he's way too low key for my taste, but does a lot of subtle things, understands the game, the kind of guy who gets taken for granted.

I like him as a shut down center better than BONK.
