If we continue to play like this and put ourselves in the playoffs - I think Huet is definitely a candidate for the Hart. 5 shutouts in 21 starts - WOW!!

No kidding flower. How about 5 shutouts in his last 12 starts and twice this year with two back-to-back shutouts?

It makes a strong case. He'll most likely take the team MVP. But, there are still 21 games in to sink or swim. Figuring that Huet and Aebischer will split the rest (starting with Aeby) that leaves plenty to make a case. But, like Mr Plouf said, our last Hart trophy winner made us a loser. Heck, you could say that our last Hart winner caused a massive heart-attack and subsequent bypass.
But has Huet taken part in enough games to be even considered with other potential candidates like Jagr, Lundquist, etc? He'll have about 40 games played, maybe less, by the end of the season. I think after Theo, the league will think twice whether to give an MVP to a goaltender.
Huet won't have enough games under his belt to win any trophies. Kiprusoff only had about 40 games in 2004 and that's what kept him from winning any hardware.

The Hart Memorial Trophy is an annual award given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team. The winner is selected in a poll of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association in all NHL cities at the end of the regular season."
I would think that the part that states to his team, would give Huet some chance to win the trophy. Who else is in the running? Jagr, Staal, Kovalchuk, maybe Hasek or Lundqvist? In the grand scheme of things, I think that it should be between the goaltenders, including Huet.

I agree, but he won't win. Unwritten rule that you have to be playing for the majority of the season.
Jagr is gonna win, but I would think that Ovechkin deserves it the most.

He is definately making a run at Habs MVP. If he continues like this it will be a no brainer. League MVP will be either Jagr, Staal or Ovechkin. Sorry Crosby, but a 100+ point season and a last place team doesnt show much for an MVP.

Then why would you consider Ovechkin, by that standard? His team is also one of the worse in the league.
I like the Staal idea, but I think Jagr has a lock on it. He's having a great year and the team has made huge gains over last year.

I wouldn't give it to Jagr just because you could argue for Lundqvist as well, but Jags will likely win. Stall should be up for it and I think Kiprusofff will get some votes as well.
I still don't think there is any one player more valuable to his team than Ovechkin...maybe Kiprusoff.
Huet will definitely be the Habs MVP.

The Habs MVP should be the us, the fans, who had to go through another exhausting season and still stuck with them no matter what.

Good one, 24! In Toronto, they say Thank you, Leaf fans...........
