Few instances in the game last night where Koivu could have put the game away but, Either confidence or just plain ol' undecisiveness kept us in the edge of our seats. The brutal 5 on 3 in which he had the open net twice and decided to pass....also a wide open slot chance where he pulled back for the slapper but was scared to shoot. I know if i was Kovy and Rivet and Souray, i 'd be grilling the Captain and sayig "you gotta bury those." Could have cost us the game if it wasnt for the strong defensive play and Huet!!!
Apparently he is waiting for the "real" season now!
...so once the likes of Huet, Rivet, Begin, Higgins & Kovy bust their arses getting the team to the playoffs, Saku is gonna take it from there??? (Don't worry Saku11, And-o doesn't get it either)

Saku may have lost some scoring confidence, but the work ethic is still there. He busts his arse as much as anyone - and more than most.
To quote Mrs. Hab, Get a life, pal.

The drooling...Have a look at the sysyem Montreal is playing. koivu is the perfect fit for the system. And they are winning since Koivu signed. Wonder why?
Koivu's definitely a bit frustrated out there. But he's still doing everything else you have to do when the goal-scoring isn't happening. It'll come (although goal-scoring has never really been his strength). I find his skating more effective and his passing more composed than when he was truly in a funk (before the break), and I think he's the glue that holds the line together, the one who makes the soft passes, creates space, balances positioning, etc...

Mulsy...Huet's save percentage is as near to perfect as it gets since the break...Rivet and Souray have elevated their game to a level which has become contagious to both Komi and Dandy (finally)...Higgins progress is amazing...Kovy is handling the puck like a magician...Ribeiro is playing inspired hockey (yes Ribeiro) and the PK unit has simply been outstanding (especially Begin and Bonk)...........and this is all because Koivu signed?!?!?!?! Give And-o a freak'in break!
I agree though that Saku and "the trap" are a perfect fit for each other!
Without a doubt...a well-rested and interested Saku would have (and should have) bagged about 3 goals last night versus the Rangers! The guy is missing yawning cages now. And-o thinks those are pretty fair statements...don't you??? See though...THAT is THE problem!

So now that they are winning...everyone else is responsible? Cripes And-o what's next?
And-o you are truly in over your head here. Why not just give it up? Otherwise, the next 3 years of Koivu leading Montreal... eventually to a cup will be painful for you...

And-o, you're just trying to get attention now. Who could argue that Koivu hasn't been better since the break, missed empty nets and all? I'm all for entertaining cranks, but the Koivu thing is just losing its zip. I suggest you find a new topic to hector us with.
It's like Begin said in an interview after the win over the Rangers. "We win as a team and we loose as a team". When was the last time you heard player on the Habs say that.
At the beginning of the season, when we were winning those games by minimal margins (1 goal/2goals max.) it showed that it was a team effort. However, I remember the players admiting that it WILL COME BACK AND BIGHT IN THE ASS sooner or later. AND IT DID.
There back to winning by those minimal margins and lately, much has to do with Huet's shutout performances. Our offense has to get 3 - 4 goals per game. Huet can't get a shutout every game. I just hope that the confidence that is created by Huet's playe doesn't get to the point where they rely on him too much. It will come back to bite them in the ass.

Very true, but I should point out that our offense has scored around 3.5 goals per game since the break. And our defense has given up around 2.0 goals per game. So we are doing pretty well at both ends.

Thanks for the stats Plouf...sometimes we get caught with one or 2 games in particular. I was thinking more of the last two games. 3 goals scored in 2 games...
Thay faced a very good goalie in Lundqvist last game, so I consider the 1 goal game an anomaly. They had lots of chances but he made some great saves.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that it won't really matter who we meet in the playoffs...any team we will play, will be a war. I can't make a good arguement for wanting to meet one team over the other anymore. All the teams either have a potent offense or an A+ goaltender (ei. Brodeur, Lundquist).
