Rookie of the Year Contender

Yes, I know the rookie of the year candidate is a lock with Ovechkin BUT it's not as cut and dry as it seems. Has anyone entertained the fact that Henrick Lunquist may have a shot. The Rangers' goaltender has 25W and 8L with a GAA of 2.08 and a SV% of .927

We expected Ovechin to fly this year in the new free wheeling NHL (maybe even surpassed our expectations). Lundquist has a 2.08 GAA, in this league? That's impressive for a first year goaltender. The Rangers would not be where they are without him. In any case, we'll get to see him tonight.

Good points!

I don't remember a year with so many great rookies - Ovechkin, Crosby, Lundqvist, Svatos, Vanek, the Colorado guy (name escapes me, but he can fly!).............

I think Svatos is the Colorado guy you're thinking of.

Well, a major reason why there so many good rookies is due to the lock-out but yes, these guys are the future elite. Who's the Habs future superstar...hmm

Quite right!  I was thinking Svatos was the Ottawa defenseman.  Now that's the guy whose name I can't remember!

Go on, please!  I believe Kostitsyn to have of the best potentials of the bunch, once he gets a bit of maturity under his belt.

God yes, how could I have left him off the list!  I would kill to see him in a Hab uniform.  His name even sounds Hab-like.  He could be our ninth D-man ("Et Dion Phaneuf........").  Bad joke.........

Who do you think should take the MVP? Jagr's name is being mentioned as the logical candidate...

He would be a good choice.  Leading scorer, most likely, and the Rangers one of the most improved teams in the league (if not the most improved).  Works for me.
