Much has been said about the Habs now not having a francophone Quebecois goalie for the first time in over 40 years - since the Worseley/Hodge days (ironically, both Anglo-Quebecois).
Now we have two non-Quebecois goalies, but both francophones! Huet from France proper, and Aebischer from a part of Switzerland where both French and German are spoken, I believe. I'm anxious to hear Aebischer interviewed, to hear the accent he has.
Question for Chris: Do I have that right about Aebischer's roots? Would he speak German primarily, with French as a second language, or the other way around? Or both in equal doses?
i think i can answer your question Nil d. David would probably speak Swiss-German - which is completely different from German, and then speak french and english as 2nd and 3rd languages. Depending on his parents.

Looking on hockeydb, Aebischer is born in Fribourg, and played his first club hockey there. Now I'd have to get Chris's confirmation on this, but I think Fribourg is a mostly French-speaking town (judging from my initial google-researching), but probably it's originally a German town name (like Strasbourg in France), so probably a mixed area. So I bet he speaks French and (Swiss) German.
