From TSN:

Canadiens great Geoffrion too ill to take part in jersey retirement ceremony

Apparently his condition has deteriorated over the last week since his surgery.  Sad....kinda puts things into perspective.

That was the point of my post yesterday morning.

Very sad; the Boomer not only was a great player, he's also a dynamic personality.  I hope and pray for a miracle.  I hope his family will be at the ceremony (his son Danny had a cup of tea with the Habs), and that he'll be well enough to watch on TV.

The reports seemed more optomistic yesterday though Nil...it doesn't sound good for him.

We should all hoist whatever your drink of choice is tomorrow when number 5 is raised!

How old is he and what kind of cancer? Is it terminal?

He's 75 -  diagnosed with stomach cancer last week after having "routine" surgery.

I don't know if it's terminal, but his prognosis doesn't sound great.

That is sad. The guy has had to wait to long for this honour! I guess better late than never.
