No big trade from Gainey. Te team we have now is the team we will be using to get us to the playoffs. We have in my opinion Atlanta to worry about ( if we beat boston tonight, they are finished)

Totally disappointed in Bob Gainey. So much for the "Moving Theo so Bob can make the Big move theory". Here we are with 10 mill in cap space...Oh well, Gillette will be happy. Hey there is always "next year".

By the way teh Whitt trade to Nashville for a prospect and first round pick ..I would have pulled the trigger on that on ein a heartbeat

i dont think you would be happy if gainey acquired ovechkin for streit.

yes we are sitting with alot of cap space now, however that cap space is only going to get bigger when the cap increases this summer.

So, we unload Theo's contract, potentially giving Colorado yet another elite goalie, get a second-stringer and nothing else, and sign someone who at times is prone to taking dumb penalties...and THAT'S IT???

its easy to be critical of any move that was or was not made..
if we gave up zednik and souray for bertuzzi people would worry about our lack of defence.
our team is playing well right now, all because its the trade deadine we dont have to make a deal. I'm sure after Jokinen went off the market the price for all other forwards went up quite a bit.

im starting to think a lot of people on this board are fans of the new york knicks and what isiah thomas is doing with that organization. You could look at the Jalen Rose for Antonio Davis trade as the same kind of move that Theo for Ab was. However Ab might suprise alot of you, he's been playing really well.

Yes it is..but I am concerened with making the playoffs and, if we do, getting past the first round for a change. We cleared an overpriced goalie out (that Gainey just signed 7 months ago to a huge contract because he thought he was the next coming of JC), got a goalie that the Avs did not want because he was inconsistent, and picked up Todd "Suitcase" Simpson, a penalty prone player who has been around more locker rooms then Madonna. What would have been wrong with going after a rental player with some of that cap space and then, if he does not work out, just do not resign him? Looking forward To Ribiero as our second center for teh tough playoff run.

Gainey's one of the only guys who even made a trade. What's with the trade deadline this year? Must be the new CBA, because I've never seen so few transactions in March.

I'm somewhat dissapointed that BG didn't make a move to, but the Habs have been the hottest team since the Olympic break (while on the road!!), we just acquired the best back-up goalie in the league and our schedule is relatively easy after this roadtrip and 3/4 of the games are at home.  Me likes the way this is shaping up!!!

i'm not gonna lie to ya, i'd love to have a soild #2 center, but their were simply none available. Tyler Arnason just got traded, we could have picked him up but is he an improvement?

In fairness I am sufre he TRIED to address the problem we have at center ice...only an idiot would not see that we need a center. But sometimes the deal is just not there or too rich. I still say in a best of 7 against Ottawa that we stand no chance with the team we have now. But perhaps we should just be happy to make the playoffs.
