I've known about the trade as soon as it came out on TSN yesterday night BUUUTTT....i havent been able to get to my computer so i havent been able to share my views. Im CERTAIN many of you know how much i like...yes like, i still do... Theo and yes im sad to see him go ( and even more in seeing what we got back ) but lets look at a few things.

1) His price for play ( or lack there of ) was just too high, and im sorry but we just cant have that, no team can. We save a **** load of money and also make a good possibility of signing a top free agent this summer ( Please Luongo )

2) Theo is an elite, not matter what anyone says. Goalies will have down streaks and the best of them come out on top. I expect theo to have a full recovery and have great success in Colorado and i hope he does!! Fortunately we wont have to see him again for another 3 years....so that dreaded day wont be much to worry about for the meantime. And es...Mrs Hab will get to see him tear it up often out west.

3) Gainey as good as his did at saving his @$$ dumping Theos salary....he got us almost absolutely nothing in return for him...for now!!! Before everyone freaks out and says...we should have at least got a 2nd rounder ect. Think of it this way. Theo is gone. We have a cheaper goalie and saved a lot of cash that will be used at getting us another good player. If Huet doesnt keep form. We have Aebischer to...lean on for a while ( im sorry but i dont like him at all!!!!) Honestly i hope huet resigns, and plays well for us for a long time OR we sign luongo with that money we made. ( With Jokinen signing today, getting luongo will be much harder )

All in all, i will miss theo but i am glad he got out and will be able to start fresh and new in Colorado, now lets just hope we dont end up facing him in a stanely cup final in the future!!

....quote from Patrick Roy today.... " I think Colorado should stop drafting goalies...if they ever need one...they could just go to Montreal!"

Again..it just makes me wonder why Gainey signed him to the huge contract to begin with?!? I am really starting to question his judgement at times. But at least he got himself off the hook.

Hey Johab!  Good to see you.  I was watching for you to back me up last night!

Seriously though, I do NOT disagree with the trade, per se (although we should have received more than just Abby, in my opinion).  Theo needed to get out of Montreal.  AND, I'll get to see him play first-hand far more out West!  :)

However, I "flipped out" at the insults made about Theo by AB, not the trade itself.  I guess I kept quiet too long about this type of stuff, read that post and snapped.    But I stand by my rant.

hmmm....i think ill stick with Scarlet...maybe put her there in Davey's place...haha

...by the way....i forgot to add i SERIOUSLY believe Aebischer will either be traded in the offseason in a package deal for a better goalie. I feel aebischer is only here for the stretch drive and management wanted a more capable goalie for the long haul. It is unfair to put that kind of pressure on young Danis....Maybe im just hopinh...but i feel Aebischer will NOT be around very long. To me he is not #! material. Biron coming to montreal would be great in my opinion. God knows he wont be happy behind Miller....

I am sure that Danis will be glad to get his a$$ unglued from the pine in Montreal and go back to playing in Hamilton for awhile too

Johab - totally agreed!  I actually wouldn't have been surprised to see Abby move before he ever put on a Habs jersey.  And this is good for Danis - he'll see some playing time for a change.  No offense to Abby, but I still don't feel we've locked up our goaltending.

I agree with you Barry. But I thought I answered that pretty well in a previous post? If you were GM...and Theo and his agent wanted 4 years/4.5 mil...what would you have done? If you say you would have told him to walk...then you are fooling yourself.

This is Montreal. Theo was a hart and vezina trophy winner. AND a hometown boy to boot. If you think the frenzied Montreal media would not have linched Gainey had he not signed...you are fooling yourself. No choice. Brilliant that he was able to even get rid of him.

As long as Montreal fans hold onto that dream of hometown hero's...the habs will have great difficulty getting anywhere. The 70's are over boy's.
