It's a great trade for Montreal for a number of reasons.
- Abeischer & Huet will push each other, and bring out the best as they compete for playing time. They probably won't win you a cup, but you can certainly make the playoffs with them.
- Let's face it, Theo's time in MTL was done. His played was shaky at best in the 03-04 playoffs, with the exception of Game 6&7 vs. Boston and just brutal this year. - Theo's family situation in MTL (albeit, not his fault) was like a 3 ring circus in MTL, an he was treated like the Royal Family is in British tabloids - he had to get out.
- We save huge amounts of money, with unrestricted players such as Jokienen, Richards & Jay McKee available this summer, and Luongo in '07. Gainey can now really make this his team and look at what he built in Dallas...a Cup winner, a Cup contender for 4-5 seasons, and a Playoff team for 10 straight seasons.
