Time to Wish Theo Luck

Like any other trade, it is a gamble. One of two things will happen here and there is no "grey area".  Lacroix (Avs GM), was the one who orchestrated the Roy steal. He is gambling that he has done it again and, if Theo comes back strong, then he has. Gainey, on the other hand, hopes that Theo flops and that he has now evened the score on the Roy giveaway. Time will tell. It is the ugly side of hockey. The business side. The "what have you done for me lately" side. Conceivably it could have been Koivu. If something happened that Saks was having a terrible season, say 4 goals and 8 assists...injured alot..bad luck, bad hair..whatever...and had just signed a big contract, Gainey could have just as easily traded him for a 4th round pick just to unload salary (if he did not have a no trade clause). One wonders what the reaction would be on this board today had this been the case? My point is this. As fans we soon forget all the good things a player did for a franchise when he falls on hard luck or has a bad year.

Jose Theodore is a good guy who, like him or not, gave his heart and soul to this team at one time. Gainey thought enough of him in August to give a huge contract to. Now, all of a sudden, he is a bum and we are happy he is gone. I for one want to take the high road and wish him all the best in Colorado. Theodore IS a good guy and was a good team guy (as evidenced by Koivu's comments yesterday after the trade). He deserves our best wishes and thanks.

Can you even keep a straight face when you type something like that???

Cripes, we are bickering over degrees of 'terrible' I guess?????

I am just trying to put the business of hockey in perspective And-O. It is brutal. And we all have our favorite players (and coaches) and it is very much a what have you done for me lately business. Two years ago, Claude Julien and Jose Theodore were the toast of Montreal and the toast of this board. Heros. Now bums. I prefer to look at the "what have you done for me overall" approach as to what you did for me yesterday.

I also wish Theo luck, but of course, not against us! I also hope Gainey takes this extra money and scores with it. And ummm... And-O? Where is this 'spike' you are referring to?

I better wash my glasses then...
And Barry, I am having some trouble getting press conferences and the Gazette delivered out here in the mountains, so could you post what Koivu said, as well as any other major comments please? Merci bien an avance. I have also heard the conspiracy theory that Theo wasn't injured... sounds like complete hogwash that undermines the integrity of Gainey and Dr. Moulder... anyone know if there is any basis to this rumour?

Habtastic- I am just quoting what I heard on the radio this morning so it is not word for word but it was soemthing like this : "Unfortunately this is the ugly part of the business and it is hard to get used to, especially for us Europeans. In Europe you do not get traded, you stay with your team for good. Jose is a good friend of mine and a good team guy and I will miss his friendship"

So much for Theo being part of the "clique" eh?
