Ribby playing with some grit. If he wants to continue in this league, he will need to continue with these gonads. A fight would have showed me something.
Komi needs to play more like a man than a boy. With his size he should be smokin guys. He seems too wimpy to me.
Souray is playing very well. That guy is a leader.
Koivu doing his thing. Solid PK and all around game as well as a nice soft pass to Souray for the goal.
Begin...Awsome pride.
Markov. I watched him very close tonight and must admit, that guy is solid.
With Begin on the ice, no way does he let Ribs fight. He knows that we need this guy playing and not hurt. That would of been as much of a miss-match as Saks and Boynton fighting! Begin too much of a leader to let that happen!
-The spearing was pretty minimal. It was definitely a spear, and should have been a penalty for sure. But Ribeiro played it up plenty. He was agitating and showing grit, and good for him, up to a point. But I assure you that ONLY the Montreal announcers were indulgent with Ribeiro's post-spearing reaction. If you read my post, I'm glad Ribeiro is doing this. The point was that his grit was the kind of grit that opponents do not respect. Only fans of the Habs will be happy with it. It doesn't mean I had a problem with it. I'm a Habs fan.
-Jerkoff: ask any player in the league what they think of Ribeiro. He is a big talker, a diver, a dandy, a guy who gets his stick up, etc... But he gets under the opponents' skin. And this can be a good thing. I was happy with what Ribeiro did tonight. "Jerkoff" was meant partly to be a compliment, in the way that Barnaby, C.Lemieux, Linseman, (i.e. guys you hate unless they are on your team) are jerkoffs.
-Don't see how this relates to Koivu (except in the Freudian sense). But since you have generally counted things entirely in statistical terms when comparing these two players, let me point out to you that Ribeiro has 3 points since the break and Koivu has 6.

I agree. You don't want Boynton vs. Ribeiro even when Ribeiro's game. I think that's what Begin's gotta do in that instance. Stick up for your skill players and take the penalty if necessary.

Sorry Plouf, I over reacted! I get what your saying now! I thought you were upset with the way Ribs reacted!
No worries at all. Anyway, I agree that Ribeiro has been great lately. Since the break he's usually impressed me with his focus on the winning the game any way possible. He's no Begin, but he's moving in the right direction. And the way Begin got in there so quickly reflects well on what his teammates must think of him these days. I've seen Ribeiro joking around with Koivu, with Kovalev, etc.... His teammates are happy for him when he scores. Maybe the dressing room situation is changing? A lot of players are emerging: Bonk, Zednik, Huet, Higgins, Ribeiro....And only Theo was traded among a lot of guys who've had tough seasons. This has to be a happy bunch right now.
I agree with ya, Ribs in improving and sticking up for himself, just in time with the playoffs up and coming. Great game by the boys all around, still to many penalties, but they can work on that over the next few games hopefully.
I was surprised to see begin jump in, but it says a lot about the team -- and Begin -- that he did. Yes, Ribs got speared and yes, he embellished it a little as he is wont to do, but that little scuffle showed a team that's together in more ways than one.
