Of course i'm upset with the outcome of the game, brutal reffing but lets look on the bright side. The odds of the Leafs making the playoffs are still not good., but now they won't trade away there trash for prospects that could help them for the future. They'll end up missing the playoffs, paying Belfour two million next year to stay home, losing McCabe for nothing. If they had lost they might have got some picks out of it. Even if we don't make the playoffs there is no way Toronto does.

I gotta say it doesn't make me feel better.  We've played them six times this season and lost four of them, with two games left.  They find a way to beat us too many times and its getting frustrating because they're not that good, but what does that say of us.

Actually I saw alot of upside last night and, truth be known, if it was not Toronto they lost to last night I would hardly have been upset. What I saw:

  1. Consistent effort for 3 periods from a tired hockey club made more tired from 12000567 penalties

  2. Guys willing to pay the price. Begin should have been named first star. He logged a ton of ice time and blocked a few shots, including one from McCabe (which should get Begin a Purple Heart). I saw guys who wanted to win out there

  3. Penalty killing as great..power play not bad

  4. Markov has been horrible since the Olympics

  5. Ribiero is playing inspired hockey and when he does that he is actually useful

  6. Not sure what faceoff % are lately but Bonk must me leading the team

  7. Huet was just fine but should have been rested last night..period

Here are the actual faceoff stats from last night.

Mike Ribeiro, 12-16, 75% (mostly against Allison and Wilm)
Saku Koivu, 13-23, 57% (mostly against Sundin and Wilm)

Radek Bonk, 8-18, 44% (mostly against Sundin, Wilm and Wellwood)
...including a terrible 3-11 on defensive zone faceoffs

And the other 4 post-olympic games:

Against Philly:
Bonk, 60%
Koivu, 52%
Plekanec, 50%
Ribeiro, 29%

Against Tampa Bay:
Koivu, 65%
Ribeiro, 53%
Plekanec, 50%
Bonk, 38%

Against Florida:
Plekanec, 67%
Koivu, 64%
Bonk, 40%
Ribeiro, 12%

Against Islanders:
Bonk, 50%
Plekanec, 47%
Koivu, 45%
Ribeiro, 40%

Roughly, the post-Olympic averages look something like:
Koivu 57%
Plekanec 54%
Bonk 46%
Ribeiro 42%
