Wake up in Montreal
Permalink Closed

Come on you guys. What the hell is happening tonight when we go to play one of the most important games of the season in Leafland?

I just checked the Toronto Star and got more information about tonight's game than on this board:

Plekanec won't be playing because of a shoulder injury -- is no one on this board listening to local radio or reading the newspapers? Are the TV stations not covering the Habs?

Bouillon has a hand injury and is iffy? -- Streit will replace him, if he can't go?

Who's moving around on the lines? Who'll come out of the press box? Who'll go where? -- read the Toronto Star for details.

I'm out here in Edmonton. habgirl's in Victoria. nil d is in Halifax and Ando is on Mars. You people have the benefit of living in Montreal (which, as an Albertan, I lived in for several years before coming back and I still miss Mtl.). You're our eyes on the ground and what do we get out of Montreal? "Oscars" and "Oscars .. part deux" -- with photos, no less.

Like, don't you have anything better to do? Yes, you do -- you have a responsibility to your fellow Habs fans in farflung places. Thank you. I feel better now.

If you want to pay me to be your paper boy, i will gladly stuff your living room full of habs news everyday, but it is definately not mine or any member on this boards " responsibility " to ensure YOU get your daily dose of habs news. And i think do think any member also has the right to bring up any issue, including Oscars, hif he or she wants to. This may be a Habs board, but i consider the people here as my friends and i dont just have to talk about hockey.  If theres something you want to know, simply ask, but coming on here and demanding news and work from fans who are from the Montreal area, simply because thats where they are is extremely rude. Some people on here have other things to do than just follow the habs 24/7.

Hey Junkster...lol I created a post this morning entitled "Huet and Streit Will Play Tonight". You should go read it. Hab fans in this great city are always on the ball...and don't forget it. Hope it makes you feel better. Hab fans care for other Hab fans...

Agreed, Johab. And Cup Junkie, I said last night that Pleks had a possible shoulder injury under 'Plekanec Gone'? We did our research... time to do yours.

Things have gotten a little personal -- especially from one Habs fan to another.

You mean, personal as in:

Like, don't you have anything better to do? Yes, you do -- you have a responsibility

I don't live in Montreal, many of the people here don't either. I don't feel anyone here has a responsibility to me, other than to show up and have a good time...

When there's hockey that needs to be discussed, we do. I've learned a ton off these people here, and I'm grateful for it...

If there's something that has nothing to do with hockey that we might think that another board member might find interesting, we say it.

If you're not in the mind to read the outside stuff, ignore it and you'll find the pain of being subjected to it will subside by morning.

We all have seperate, original minds that aren't only shaped by our love of hockey and our affiliation with a specific team.

It's what keeps it all interesting. Why would you possibly want to change that?

Most of us here also scour the web for information on the Habs, and don't rely on each other to fill up the board with TSN reports. As for rumours, they get mentioned, but they're difficullt to prove and almost never true...

At least we can prove Salma and Scarlett (and George, girls!) get our blood racing faster...

... and if you want to avoid making it race faster still, be a little less demanding, especially when you want information out of us and you've only had a handful of posts yourself....

so "from one Habs fan to another" relax, and enjoy the show...

I'm sure Cup Junkie was saying those things sort of tongue-in-cheek, so I wouldn't take it too personally.  But Brooky is right - if you don't like the topic, don't read it.  I personally like the odd non-Hab stuff.  I consider my fellow GoHabbers as friends, and my friends and I occasionally talk about things other than the Habs.

Try to keep it Hab-related, yes, but the odd departure is fun too!

(By the way, I just noticed that this is my Post #1864, so I dedicate this one to plouf, our resident (or expatriate) PEIslander, in memory of the big pre-Confederation conference in Charlottetown in 1864.  Go Canada!)
