Reading up on the goalie stats this afternoon...........
Who's Number 1 in the NHL in Save Percentage? None other than our very own Crystal Ball Huet! At .929, he's just ahead of New York's Henrik Lunqvist (.927) and the Dominator (.925).
His GAA of 2.26 puts him at #6 overall - not too shabby either, in front of an average-at-best defense.
Great to see...............
(For the mathematically inclined, don't you find it strange that the save "percentage" is always expressed as a decimal number? )

didn't pierre mcquire (if thats how you spell his name and say it lol) say that huet wasn't a # 1 goalie ...how do these guys predict that if the guy never played that many games , with (theore -(the-odour) in the nets

I was thinking about that quote just the other day, Pierre said something to the effect of: "The Habs will sink or swim with Jose Theodore, who's going to lead them, Danis? Cristobal Huet?"

I agree, my truncating friend! They should use baseballesque percentages. That would work very nicely - the % would simply be = total points/total possible points. Then we wouldn't have to say things like "well, they're two points ahead, but we have three games in hand....".

I know we've heard this before, but the points system is stupid. It's all about avoiding losses, yet again. Teams that tie are rewarded with a possible bonus point.
It should be:
3 points win in regulation 2 points OT win 1 point OT loss 0 points loss in regulation

Exactly, then I wouldn't have the steam coming out my ears trying to figure all that out.
I think the easy way was invented to compensate for the limited mental capabilities of Yankee fans!

And what about shootouts?

I'd go with that system..............
It would force teams that need points to try harder for offense at the end of regulation time, creating more wide-open hockey.
