Another awesome EFFORT!

I think more than anything else, the difference has been the effort and commitment by all the players.  They wanted it more than TB last night......TB looked like Team Canada just going through the motions.  I really liked how our defense played.  They are playing more physical and protecting Huet.  Komisarek looks like a new player and has been most valuable on the PK.  Bonk and Begin continue to excel under Carbonneau and Gainey.  Higgins has found a new gear playing Koivu.  Riberio is competing and now contributing.  Some people are calling for Downey to be replaced.......this winning streak started when he joined the team.  He is great in the room and is the ultimate team guy.  He has made everyone two inches taller too.  Carbo knew what he was doing when he acquired him.  Huet continues to play well and let out minimal rebounds.  We go into play a struggling Philly team on Monday and I expect another lobsided victory.  Does it get any better when the Leafs get booed at home and now there will be a firesale in TO???

Gotta love this Higgins kid.  He's hotter than a pistol!

Funny how the rookies have taken turns being the most talked-about this year.  First it was Perezhogin who was our best, then he faded and Plekanec took over.  Then Kostytsin was called up and was hot for a few games.  Higgins was always hanging around the wings, but he is now clearly #1 among our youngsters.

I think the kids are alright.....................

Higgins is improving now that his role is more defined. He was trying to be a play maker before and we needed shooters, so now he is shooting and scoring. This guy is a poor man's Joe Sakic... including the cannon wrister. I love our young guys and there are more on the way!

Actually what I felt was that it was more a matter of goaltending than anything. Tampa Bay looked EXACTLY like Montreal did when Theo was playing. We scored 2 goals on 2 shots in the first period. And just when it looked like Tampa could get back in the game, Montreal scored horrible goals on Grahame in the 3rd (I could have stopped Zednicks goal drunk). It just magnifies the importance of goaltending. I think that more than anything, is the difference in Montreal now verses Montreal 2 months ago. Tampa just simply deflated Saturday night, much like the habs used to after a weak goal by Theo. You just get thinking "why should I bother trying? Theo will just let the next one in anyway".

Maybe that was Grahame's problem. He was sober. You need to be drunk to stop a weird shot like that.

Oh by the way, I seem to recall a lot of people making this very same comment about how teams just give up when the goalie lets in a bunch of bad goals (the Theo era, remember?). But it didn't stop anyone from bashing the rest of the Habs for hanging their heads, especially their, um, "leadership".
