Ottawa, NY.R., or Carolina??? Take your pick....

With the top of the standings looking like Ottawa, NY.Rangers, and Carolina, and with the Habs looking at 8th, 7th, possibly 6th but realistic no lower then that who would you rather see them play first round, and throw a few reasons why.......

#1. NY. Rangers.....yeah they have Jagr and alot of euro talent on that team, with a young rookie goaltender who has been stellar this year, but doesn't this team remind you of the Boston Bruins a few years back, with Thorton leading the way, and a rookie goaltender in Andrew Raycroft.  We've played well against the rangers all year so why not those guys as a first pick.

#2. Carolina....leading scorer a young kid (Stall) who never seen the playoffs....goaltender (Gerber) who never seen the playoffs as a starter.....there Defence is nothing amazing, i think they would be a little harder to play then the rangers, but easier then the Sens.

#3. Ottawa.....Too much talent, Spezza finally showing up to play this year, Heatly, Alfredson, Fisher, and on the point with Redden, Chara, Phillips with a healthy Hasek.....not so much, yeah we took care of them with Huet in goal what, 2 times, but we also lost to them 4-2, 4-3, shutout 4-0, shutout 3-0.  To be honest, there a much stronger team then us, and not the team i'd want to see the habs face in the first round.

Carolina's owned us, Ottawa too strong, so I agree with you, the Rangers would be ideal. To get them, though, we'd probably have to finish 6th. So cross your fingers for a collapse by New Jersey and Tampa Bay, and continued stellar play by Huet and co.

I know that Ottawa is the elite of the league, but, Hasek is definately back in time, and they do have a history of playoff choking.  In the grand scheme of things, the Rangers would be a good option - rookie goalie, and what appears to be a fragile line-up (Malik is their biggest guy 6'5" - 235lbs).  I think I just don't want Carolina.

I just think that we now have goaltending, so we now have confidence, so why not talk about it.
